UPDATE 2: The explosion this morning (Dec. 28) that occurred in Wattala was caused by an LTTE suicide bomber who had forcibly entered a Civil Defence Force (CDF) security point near a Sunday fair.
One officer and four CDF personnel were killed. Ragama Hospital Deputy Director Ms. Lalani Gunasinghe says 10 injured have been admitted to the Rahama Hospital, out of which nine are males and one female. Two of the injured are in a critical condition and are being transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo.
The presence of the CDF is strong in the Wattala and they are frequently seen along the Colombo-Negombo road, supplementing the Army and police on duty.
