sid repos always updated and easy to get the latest packages. unlike etch(stable). Lenny(testing) is okey too.

Stable is ok macho. but they only have stabled packages. no new software updates comes to the repoes.

yah .. but most recent packages wont work with etch. when need to install a new package the newer librariies will needed and more new dependancies will hav to upgrade. then again other packages going to be crashed. more likely etch becoming sid :) . (stable to unstable)

and if u r using a stable better try backports for the package upgration.

Mixing Stable/Unstable and Testing repositories in debian is asking for trouble.
You should use only 1 of the three (unless you're experimenting).

Stable (Currently Debian Etch) is best for production servers where up time and reliability is of utmost importance.

Testing (currently Debian Lenny) is good for desktops but the possibility of breakage is there (hence its testing)

Unstable (Debian Sid) is where the latest stuff appears but possibility of breakage is high (hence its unstable) and this is not recommended for production use.

If you want bleeding edge stuff on your Testing or Stable environment get them from th backports repositories, without mixing the apps from other branches.
