you do have the MP3 codecs installed right ?
By default, MP3 codecs are not installed out of the box on Ubuntu due to licensing of the MP3 codecs.

hey. sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180 giving me coudn't find package error :(

eh ?? the package is available for Ubunutu 9.04. perhaps the repository is not enabled.

    From a terminal run :
sudo echo "deb http://lk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted universe multiverse" >> /etc/apt/sources.list

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180

mare sure that there is no spelling mistake when you're typing the line in red!!!

    machan.. do it like this...
    1. download the driver suitable for your vga from nvidia site.
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
    2. then
press alt + F2 to enter tty2 mode
    3.login as root
    type init 3
    4. then login again as root
    5. navigate to the directory where you downloaded your driver
    6. type sh driver.run where driver.run is the driver file you downloaded..

I have done this many times for last 2-3 weeks. :D

Hey bro u r right in one hand Ubuntu is not the best for us

nope its lyk a Benz and a Toyota . depend on the usersm ppl need benz and totoya is enough for sm ppl. choice is yours

to me ubuntu 9.04 is lyk a OLD Wolkswagon. full of bugs and poor HW support (DAt Jakalope couldn't handle my CDMA) . but sm ppl lyk it

Fedora is so powerful. on stream Sinhala sup (On Stream Sinhala Desktop). highly stable and less bugs.we can DO every thing we want to Do.

IF you want a 'baba' Act, stay with ubuntu. if you wanna get a REAL LINUX experience, then you have to get another way. (not only fedora, debian, slackware, gentoo etc can gv the REAL Linux EXP)

    Chiose it yours.

one last thing, ubuntu is NOT LINUX.. sm ppl just use ubuntu and blame linux. Fools

But neither the Fedora i have used it. Not so cool as u say.(sorry personal idea)

But Mint is better for people with no internet connection as they have all codecs in one CD.

I wanna try slackware still downloading it. will atleast get few days to complete and wont b able to try til august.(2nd semister exams !!!!!)

How about the driver's support to Ubunuto.. ??? Bcoz.. fear to install that.. is it detect printers , ADSL modems.. kind a Old version likes window xp..

Detected my epson printer with lot of facilities than the original driver.
didnt detected my ADSL modem (h901 prolink though it have linux drivers in CD)

As i know modems are detectable when installed the software known as Ubudsl (ddnt workd for me)

vodafone e220 (3g modem) is plug and play without additional software:nerd:
