Its a very compelling character driven supernatural-fantasy drama. And not to mention blood & boobs. So whats not to love.

Well the answer it bit messy.
I like modern flavored plots in movie and TV series. Preferably both plot and surrounding.
Take "The Event","V","Prison Break" those are the series I fell in love with and especially "FlashFoward" & "House" as those are fabricated with excellent character development. I simply couldn't resist those.
In the other hand take this "Game of Thrones","Spartacus","Boardwalk Empire ", etc. Im sure all of them are beloved and great. But just not in my eyes.
And finally I didnt like the old "Robin Hood" much as both surrounding n plot is medieval or something like it. But the new BBC modernized Robin Hood is one of my most favorite. I liked its castrated and carved plot more than the older one.

I see, So you are more of modern/contemporary fan. I too fancy TV shows set in modern era, yet at the same time i enjoy shows like game of thrones, Spartacus,Hell on Wheels,Downton Abbey ...etc
