An internship is offered by a organization for students in universities or people who have finished their studies to obtain experience in the organization, this will be offered witha low salary and then after a certain time the employee will be taken as a permemnent employee to the fraganization.

As far as I know "Internships" are given for undergraduates to work and obtain some kind of working experience in a company. Usually Internships are given for a period of 6 months or 1 year. (There are internships at MIT and many other companies in Sri Lanka. They publish those vacancies at their website. Go to their careers section). During that particular period the intern has to undergo a training of the overall development process. Internships are good for undergraduates as it will be beneficial for their career development.
