I know about the cables. But they can't connect just like that. There are only two cables working at the moment.They CAN'T give a branching connection like that. It must be a connection provided by SLT through their internal fibre ring.

SEA-ME-WE 2 is not there anymore. It's seized operations.
SEA-ME-WE 3 and the whole new SEA-ME-WE 4 are working.
These are the only two cables that Sri Lanka uses. Two more cables are there, but they are new and Sri Lankan traffic doesn't go in them.

Those satellites are mostly used for TV broadcasts. Of course there are data links, but links are so small compared to what the submarine cables send/receive.

Flag Telecom's submarine cable comes only up to India (from middle east/gulf).
