What is your media server solution?

I've been running a lil server on my old dell laptop

in my setup Kodi is the both server software and frontend
nothing wrong with Kodi, anyway this evening i forgot to mount the media drive and Kodi fucked up whole server configurations (no backups either)

OS: Fedora 40; buuut media drives formatted in NTFS

Yep. It scrapes meta data in a central location. If you have an 8th Gen + intel processor, it can even transcode your movies on the fly to unsupported clients as well. Also, you can use jellyfin client on your mobile device to view content using WiFi.

Jellyfin is okay. but Emby is better. what I like Emby over Jellyfin is that it has this plugin which automatically can rename and arrange the media from watch folders. super convenient. also, it has a plugin to sync watch progress to Trakt, which is super convenient when watching TV series.

I use Infuse to download stuff from the laptop and watch them on the Apple TV.

Jellyfin - i am using in dialog Viu hub 2.0 to watch from TV. very easy setup. using over WiFi. no ads or anything, built in player is not that good. you can use 3rd party player like VLC only for playback. (no hassle, you will receive a prompt to select a player when a video is clicked) also can download eng subtitles from internet easily.
Jelly fin also can be used in other devices like ios and android. in ios you can add jellyfin to Infuze(video player) as a server and watch all of them from that player super easy, no delay. if wanted can download for offline watch. also it can be used to over the internet too, (not tested by me)

found multiple backups after yesterday disaster; had to configure everything from scratch again
only few movies synced, many more left. taking hours to extract metadata; gonna leave overnight to be done
