thanks for being honest! this is exactly what we wanted to know. some members here talk like they own the best passport in the world. they dont understand the problem here. i wont see so many threads about aussie and new zealand migration in elakiri if our countries passport is powerful as their passports. browse around and check how many of them want to migrate.

we should understand there is a reason for them call our passport one of the worst passports in the world. sri lankan passport is one of the worst passports in the world. only limited countries give visa free access to sri lankan passport holders. seems like most sri lankans dont see document work and embassy work as a problem because they're used to it. try to ask from someone who comes from stable country whether he loves to stay in an embassy queue early in the morning ? ask a foreigner whether he loves to take sponsor letters and bank balance proof just to go on a holiday trip ? the answer will be no. our sri lankans are used to this until they dont feel this is a problem

shiwankaswe you should come out of this 3rd world mentality. what does the foreign service got to do if it is our responsibility to build a portfolio of visa in order to make our passport powerful. dont you feel ashamed to count how many visa stamps glued on your passport ? you should be ashamed that you need a visa stamp prior to your arrival in a foreign nation when people from stable countries travel with no document proof. only very few countries provide visa free access to sri lankans. you dont need to travel around and build a portfolio of visa stamps on your passport if your countries passport is powerful. do you understand that ? we are talking about the hassles lankans should go through in order to spend a small holiday in a stable country. giving documents , sponsor letters , banks statements is considered as hard way to visit a country! millions of people from stable countries get visa free access to half of the world. sri lankans cant even transit in some countries if they dont have a visa. even if they dont go out of the airport.

In Los Angeles, I was about to travel to SL. Transit was in France. The white guy who checked my baggage looking at my passport said I have to obtain a French visa to proceed. So he threw my baggage out. I clearly knew that wasn’t an issue and he has acted in such manner due to my skin colour or passport, being a Sri Lankan. When I waited helplessly another white guy came and asked me what had happened and rectified his error.

and goto the immigration department in the airport and see how UK national get Visit visa for sri lanka, and check what are the criteria they check for issue visa...

Then please come here and post a thread about this...

i am just typing this withholding 1 active work visa for 1 country and this is my second country to get a work visa, and check EK for how many peoples posting threads about getting work visa, If you have a right qualification you will get hired and issue Visas without applying... let me ask you a question. lets say there is a person who goes to a foreign nation under tourist visa and do an illegal job. now lets assume this person gets deported for being a bad person and violating the law of that country. definitely this person is a bad person who made the reputation of sri lankan passport worst. let us imagine the country that deported this person put strict rules on sri lankans after this incident

now lets say there is another person who saved his ass to go on a holiday trip to the same nation and he comes from the same country the 1st person i mentioned above. do you think just because the 1st person worked illegal the 2nd person should be responsible for the bad reputation of his passport ? he did nothing wrong. just because he is surrounded by bad people he had to face the same strict rules others should face.

thats better! you better stay silent if you dont know what you're talking. i dont want to waste my time with a person who dont understand what he is talking. who the hell will compare uk nationals buying visa in lankan airport with sri lankans trying to get a visa for uk ? who the hell will talk about being qualified for work visa when we try to compare the power of our passport ? even a person coming from the most unstable nation will get a visa for work if he has the right qualification. that has nothing to do with your passports reputation.

Our Foreign Ministry is shithole. We cannot still get on Arrival Visa for most countries. Even Indian passport is much better than ours. In the 70s Sri Lankans did not need a visa for UK. Now look at it they are screwed.

Sri Lankan Government should sign agreement with all countries giving visa free access to them in return for visa free access us. Look what UAE did to EU, They asked all diplomats to get paid visa if they want to work in UAE. They forced all those diplomats and families to get visa. What happened they allowed all those UAE citizens visa free access to EU.

We should do the same. Charge for visa what they charge for US to enter their countries.

Sri Lanka should even have agreements to take back its citizens who come there illegally. That would force people not to seek asylum in other countries. Sri Lanka should charge heavy fines for those asylum seekers.
