There we are then, the 8 megapixel shootout is over and the crossfire is about to begin. Doing all those tests was fun but it was hard too. Now that there's seemingly the simplest thing left to do, we'd rather sit back and let everyone do their own math.

It was our best effort - and our pleasure - to weigh up and compare all there is to a cameraphone. We know there's no way for every single feature on our list to be equally relevant to all users alike. So, if you're about to make up your mind, we suggest you only look at those that are most important to you.

However we can still offer you a quick summary of our overall impression, without getting into numbers.

If you are looking for the universal performer, then the Samsung INNOV8 is your definite choice with excellent image results. Besides first-rate stills, it also delivers VGA video recording 30fps or slow motion QVGA videos at 120fps and has a large display.

If you are after the best camera interface and probably the best camera handling and controls, then Sony Ericsson C905 is your game.

If you're really into touchscreen and massive high-res displays, you would be right at home with both the LG Renoir and the Samsung Pixon. Now that we received a final version of the Samsung Pixon (05 Dec), it turned out as a quite capable cameraphone.

The LG Renoir still has the leading bunch of still camera features and it's fully geared in terms of video recording with VGA@30fps, slow motion QVGA videos at 120fps or time-lapse QVGA clips. But when it comes to image quailty, we found some test scenes at which the Samsung Pixon offered more eye-pleasing results. The Samsung Pixon also offers WVGA video recording that lacks on the Renoir and a superior user experience thanks to the well organized camera interface.

We really hope you enjoyed this 8 megapixel shootout as much as we did. Forgive us if the article tends to get a bit technical at times, but explaining the basics of photography and camera construction is pretty much out of the scope of this article

Sony Ericsson C905, Samsung i8510 INNOV8, Samsung M8800 Pixon and LG KC910 Renoir is included in this review.N86 8mp is not included in this review.

dis is a camera with an inbuilt 4n:P
sony cybershot digital cameras have carl zeiss optics lens(the worlds best lens),but sony cybershot phones don't have that lens, just a normal one.So don't compare sony cybershot digital cameras with phones. However Nokia Nseries phones have Carl Zeis optic lens.

Machan the best 8MP phone is the sony Ericsson C905. My little bro has it. Superb phone!!!! Patta photo quality. There is no visible difference in an 8mp digi cam and this phone. And i think Sony gives out the best photos. Nokia may have carl zeiss lens but their pix isnt as good as the SE in terms of picture quality. My phone is a k800i. And i took a picture of my house using mine and the n73. Took the photos of the same place without moving, just changing the two phones. There is really a huge difference. If i find it in my phone i will upload them so you can see..... I hope i didn't delete it. And try taking a pic without flash at night time and without nightshot enabled. You will see the difference.

You guys think just because you can take a good picture and the name cybershot it automatically beats every phone.Know photography before comparing.I posted a pic showing the difference between a wide angle lens and a normal camera phone lens.Sony Ericcson does not have that.Sounds are not he best of the best. Its not a smart phone.Hell it has a TFT screen with 256K colours(that sucks)N86 has a 16 million colour AMOLED screen(if you don't know the difference between OLED and TFT,google it and see.OLED is superior in display quality),INNOV8 has a 16 million colour screen and both N86 and INNOv8 are symbian powered smart phones.Just read professional reviews before coming to conclusion.c905 doesnt have a wide angle lens, variable aperture which N86 has.C905 has a normal lens.N86 has Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens(the best in the photography industry.N86 has a internal 8GB memory with memory expansion through micro sd which is cheaper than m2.So go through the technical stuff more clearly.C905 has a great camera, but its not the greatest.

Here is the difference between a wide angle N86 pic and a Samsung INNOV8 pic
