The strong rejection by India of former CDS Sarath Fonseka’s claim that Indian Army was put on alert following a warning by President Mahinda Rajapaksa of a military coup attempt, has gone on to shake the grounds on which General (Retd) had built his whole argument against President Rajapaksa.
While one may say that it’s a case of India playing it safe in the best interests of the two nations, still one has to accept State Minister Shashi Tharoor’s version as the Indian stand.
Fonseka has three options before him.

The general never based his whole argument against MR on the grounds that MR feared a coup by SF.
He whole arguments was based on
1] MR & Gota mistrusted him on many grounds soon after Vp was killed
2] Gota belittled him in presence of junior officers
3] MR lied to him about the powers of the CDS
4] Derogatory claims made by gvt ministers against him and wide publicity given by state media
The suck-up DM editor takes one-half of a single point made by SF and turns it into the whole argument.
