But you know i dont alot about comuputers or programming but what do people really want windows to do. Don't they even say that no program can be perfect because it is just not possible. Windows is ok atleast for me it doesnt really create too much problems for me. I guess you have to know alot about programming to really know the flaws about windows
Well.. it all depends on what you do with your system and OS! If you just surf web, Watch movie, Listen to music, play games then Windows good enough!
But Windows are prone to security issues than any other OS, so it is not stable enough to run very complex programs unless you install very expensive hardware and software just to support security issues. This comment is true... think of it this way "How many times have you formatted you PC in the past 6 months?" My answer is more than 3 times! Now this means every 2 months or less I have to format my PC to make sure it runs smooth.. And if this continues to happens even in Vista would you happy that a OS just cost you $400 gives you this much of trouble?
The other comment that most people point out is that Windows is controlled by only a group of people... And Open Source is an effort of a world community, example Linux is free but still makes money by customizing and providing support for end users! But Windows wants the whole pie.. without giving something back to the community (for free)!! They could easily give the OS for for free and make money from other softwares like .NET!! But it seems Microsoft is just too greedy!!
Anyway, I use Windows whether I like it or not.. that's what's suits my current life style! So I guess we'll have to live with Microsoft dominance!!!

I hope I answered your question at least a bit......
