yeah that one way to look at it..
but i think here its illegal because of roman-dutch law which also is based on Roman Catholic laws/ideology.

religious beliefs are the main reason imo.
all religions say its a sin to commit suicide. So when a step to legalize suicide or euthanasia is taken there are those religious forces against it.
