who says linux isnt user friendly ? its user friendly if the user started using PC with linux.
It wont be user friendly if the user started PC with some other OS and learned to use only that OS for several years.

If you spend the same amount of time on linux as you spent on windows, then linux will become far more user friendly to you then windows.

If you spend more than 5 years only on windows, then try linux for a few days, ofcause it wont be user friendly for you.
    He He
I've Installed and used Ubuntu 8.10 for some time

& I'm going to get the newer version & Try
    BUT Face the reality
Forget the interface & other things
comparing with windows there is no User friendlyness at all in Ubuntu(donno much about others bt should be the same !!!!)

if you have time you can modify it! But I'm not gonna spent my time bugging an OS.
i need to get my work done on my PC without much trouble! so i use windows no matter wat other say.

8.10 was released barely 6 months ago. you tried it for some time eh ?
And how long have you been using windows ?

Anyway, if you're serious about using linux, give these distros a try and see :
kubuntu : www.kubuntu.org (its ubuntu with KDE desktop)
    PCLinuxOS : www.pclinuxos.com
    Mandirva : www.mandriva.com

check the drivers. Probably the dirvers for the ATI are not loaded. Also check the restricted modules. The driver for your ATI chipset maybe there.

About the (CD) picture provided :

Read ahead there is a quote where it says "NO WARRANTY"

this is the main problem with FOSS.
Foss may be a grate solution for countries like sri lanka (may be)
but is never provides a gurenntee about the data security or hardware damage and you have to use it on your own risk.
most of the products are not completed (Still in devoloping stage)

Proprietory software's are not 100% complete but they are completed to a commercial level on buyer and seller understanding. Customer services and a warranty is gurrenteed. There may be bugs some times they suck. But Owner company provides a feedback.

    so its 50%50

we should part in devoloping more foss and give them a better demand so that there will be a good position in the industry future
