A record victory for UPFA
390_Massive-victory.png
The ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has recorded a massive victory by winning almost 60% of the votes cast at the polls held in Central and Wayamba provinces.

Why it is not celebrated or bragged as it deserves.

I think UNP purposely let it go by not campaigning properly.. Dalas, Maithree, Nimal was complaining.. that UNP campaign is lukewarm...
What is the result. Govt won with a very high majority.. but it is a crooked result. I believe that many UNP & JVP voters did not vote because the inspiration was not provided by them.
Now the Govt has to maintain this majority in all the future elections. If the majority comes down people will think it as a defeat... and the trust of the people will be shattered.
:yes:I think this is a Trojan Horse and Govt knows it.

Let's see how Mahinda tackles this.

dude wtz d point ur tryin to make??? ur simply a pathetic loser..

The point is that Govt couldn't find the true opinion of the people, because many didn't vote. So they lost hope. This was a test and it was failed.

POLITICAL PARTY-------------------------VOTES---------PERCENT
UNITED PEOPLE'S FREEDOM ALLIANCE-----650,203--------------59%
UNITED NATIONAL PARTY--------------- -422,125--------------38%
Difference---------------------------- --228,078--------------13%

Registered Electors-----------1,746,449
Total Polled---------------------1,167,336--------------66%
Not voted -------------------- ---579,113--------------34%
The number of Govt votes 650,203 are very close to the number who didn't vote 579,113.
(Just mere 71,000 more.)

It is downright stupid 2 assume that all the ppl who didn't vote were supporters of UNP/Other parties and/or all the supporters of government voted.......................................... They could be dead, out of country, had other business, sick or simly just didn't want 2 vote
Besides the no. voted rarely exceeds 75% even in a General/Presidential election. In fact 65% is a very good avg 4 a Provincial election

    .
In fact Kurunegala district was won with 70% of votes.......................................... Even in the electorates of Puttalam whose results were out, government won by 70%+(For example in Anamaduwa 79%)
Perhaps the inspirations were not there in that Province. But surely with SB, Central had a fight. Truth is people have rejected the UNP and JVP
