RIP Windows 7.
But all is not lost yet. Microsoft is offering on a limited time basis extended free support for one more year. This is only for some of their Enterprise customers.
Others have to pay for the ESU (Extended Security Updates) facility.
However, these Windows 7 ESUs won't be cheap. For Windows Enterprise and Microsoft 365 users, Microsoft will provide ESUs as an "add-on." For the first year, that add-on is $25 per device. In year 2, coverage will cost $50 per device and in year three, $100 per device. For Windows 7 Pro users, that cost is $50 per device for the first year; $100 for the second and $200 for the third.
So the home user has to move into Windows 10.
On the
bright side - I believe M$ will issue any serious security patches for free. They still do it for Windows XP. Don't they? (even after more than 5 or 6 years after they said no more XP support)
Also already some guys developed a Bypass tool that circumvents the ESU key check.

Watch the space... there will be many smart guys who will crack this. Only it will take some time.
