    Hi
Am getting this 7-e-luv :P windows update error 80072F78 eternally
Googled the error and tried the solutions (except disable virus scanner and firewall - didn't want to take that risk ).
Nothing seems to work so far.

This is a vista starter machine and updates worked ok till recently. No Changes were done to the comp config. (sometime earlier I had a different update error and it was fixed)
This is supposed to be a connection related error :frown:

btw, I can directly download patches from microsoft and install.
So there is no issue in accessing ms site or downloading.
windows auto update is not working.
Even if you say retry, same error always.

Anyone else getting or have got this error ?
If you solved it, may I know what you did please ?
    (other than re-install windows :D )

    ethaamathma isthoothi for any help!

    Hi Malinga, podi question ekak.

As I had manually downloaded security updates and installed, (including windows defender updates), each update has more or less created a restore point. So there are a lot of restore points.

Only about the last 19 restore points are shown back to 01/07/2012.
Last successful windows update was on 22/06/2012

So should I restore the system to earliest available restore point of 01/07/2012 (which is not a known good restore point) ? Could try it out though.
Seems like earlier restore points are not available. perhaps due to space available in HD.
If I had the restore point for 22/06/2012 I would have done a system restore to that or one before that :(

    mokada adahasa ?

    thanks
