and Linux are totally flowing on a different aspects of IT.
. There are viruses which can attacks linux kernals , but in present days they are so few than the fingers count. it's a few second thing.. LOL
btw for thread starter why did you even think to start a comparison like this.
Micro+GATES
From a point of view of IT we prefer linux much more than windows. Cause in linux you can actually see and change what is happening in there. Nothing is hiding.
But in windows it's a different story. we have to accept what gates give us and and do everything inside that box.
that doesn't mean linux is 100% non profitable. But it doesn't steal our wallets like mr.gates.
Well the bad thing about linux distributions is it's distro system. as you are
not accompanied with working net connection then using linux distribution is a nightmare.
if you compare the windows and linux i'll give you some hints.
- first of all as shan4dfjfun said ,the virus song.
- But in windows .. well it's kind a usual thing to have a virus in machine. isn't it. Have to use various virus guards which slows down the cpu in considerable amount.
- If you talk about media playing thing linux can play back virtually any kind of media files of course you have install the relevant codecs (as the codec packs in windows) for that and you need a working internet connection or (if you are using ubuntu) downloaded medi ubuntu repos.
- if you are seeking for a exclusive look high performance pc then go for a ubuntu with compiz and emerald enabled. Tell you what the aero concept of windows is a totally copy cat of beryl and compiz projects under linux family. Even in Windows7 the desktop windows transparent effect that you get when you place mouse is right bottom
- if you miss your favourite windows based softwares in linux now they have a solution for that also, you can install and run windows based softwares (for certain extent) in linux with Wine (windows emulator) engine.
What can you learn about a OS when none of the source codes are not existing there it self.
- If we talk about the security of windows, anyone can break the windows login password with a simple (*******) live cd. LOL
- Of course the windows xp is a very good os in sake of normal users who wish their pc as friendly as possible to use. But of course with sudden blue screen of death which kills you in a middle of a work.
- And of course in programming, there is no limit that what you can do with linux rather than stuck inside of gate's start logo.
- And finally my dear friend don't go shopping for Vista. if you don't know be aware of that Vista is the second largest failed IT project in history. Even today they didn't able to acomplish their marketing goals of vista.
- How can you market a OS which uses more than 30% of main memory for the core OS.
- 5% to 12% CPU process usage in System Idle.
- There are still most of the (legacy systems') hardware drivers are missing for Vista.
Why paying thousands for one man, support the open world.
If you can't don't disgrace Linux.
come out of the box of windows and see the huge fan base for Linux out there and they continuously giving their helping hand for improve it.
Finally i must mentioned the aspect of ubuntu. It's all about Humanity to others in a free and open world
