Windows vs Linux (the truth)

i'm using linux from 2003,but i hate ubuntu,dnt knw why is that,but i hate,no feeling as linux used to be,fedora also not feels like RH,mandriva is not like mandrake,the all things are messed up now,now the only remaining destro i like is knoppix,the whole thing is changed,it's said more user friendly,but using bash and editing plain text config files are more user friendier,now there are menus and auto detect,can't change manually,they all reset,config paths are differentsweet memories when i made dailin servers using getty and dialing with wvdial,not i dnt rly like these gui stuffthry make me crazy,and i also hate not coming with codecs,compiling and installing mplayer gives a feeling yet,but it's not for everyone,yet i love offline installation than this ubuntu online repos,rpms & debs rox,even tars are the best

Thing's this...I have used windows since 98 version to vista and now really happy with windows 7!,there was no reason to shift different linux opearting system,I can get any desired software for windows(music,video,games,graphics,documents etc.)without a problem so don't wanna install linux & messed up the things!,Anyway Linux could do better on some functions as u said!

there are lot of people who want to mess withe there computer and want to think out of the box...
linux is for them....

and machan,,, if u have used ubuntu with the compize settings with a rasonably good graphic card,, im sure you woldnt satisfy with win 7... i have used every windows version from win 95 ,,( i even used 3.1 just for fun) to win 7...but non of them caught ma mind as ubuntu did.,., actually i still have win xp on ma machine,,bcoz sometimes i cant do some of the things in ubuntu...dats not bcoz ubuntu doesent have those facilitiese,, dats just bcoz still i dnt know hw to use them.....

for gaming i know linux havent yet much in to the competition.,., but soon it willl...

and,, free and open source doesnt mean that those softwares are free of charge..that phrase means about the freedom.. lot of people missunderstand this.u can earn lot of money with open source.,i know most of the people have no pain for make games for free, they dont have to. games for linux arn't free. they can charge for the games....

lot of people have misunderstood the concept of open source.. thats the problem here.,.

Linux is better for system adminstration and high backend servers.. i prefer, da typical users should move to Windows in SL.. coz still its free... coz working in linux needs some real knowledge about OSz.. but if u hav dat knowledge, you wont ask such a question... coz u would probly use linux distributions, for its beauty...

i wana say, linux is not a total substitute for windows, n windows cant do soo much things linux provide...

da software support is da main issue in linux. But thats becoz we all think photoshop is da only image editor and da word is da only word processor.. its not our mistak.. windows has made us thik lik dat... think wide.. look far beyond.. you may end up with better sollutions.. but upto dat level of ur change.. i prefer u windows... coz its da babish OS availble... u can do wht bill gates wat u to do in his OS.. u cant go further.. n most of our fellows reallly limited them self to those stuffs.. so windows is better for typical users... specially in SL..(coz windows is still free... )

Fedora is not RH.. fedora is da cutting edge tech of RH... and RH is da server version.. so u can expect nice cute GUIs in it... if u like nice cute looks then install KDE in any of it... u dont need to change da distribution to change da looks of da OS.. linux is simple.. its coool.... u can do wht ever u want.. just u need is, google.. and some need... cheers...

yeah i agree,the main thing i love is freedom,not free, editing just a header file gives a lot of power,dnt u feel any crippleness in fedora than on RH,(i mean RH not RHEL)may be it's my fault,if you need to check the true spirit of linux,go for gentoo,i love to play with linux but there is no time now,so my knowledge is too limited,i haven't used linux properly after 2.4,2.6 is some strange to me,have to find a way to play with linux again, HEIL FOSS(not jst linux)

yeah i agree,the main thing i love is freedom,not free, editing just a header file gives a lot of power,dnt u feel any crippleness in fedora than on RH,(i mean RH not RHEL)may be it's my fault,if you need to check the true spirit of linux,go for gentoo,i love to play with linux but there is no time now,so my knowledge is too limited,i haven't used linux properly after 2.4,2.6 is some strange to me,have to find a way to play with linux again, HEIL FOSS(not jst linux)

if u r a FOSS guy... then u should go behind OS like Ubuntu.. coz dats sort of a real GNU project results.. rather than like redhat products.... i hope u knw wht r da probs in RH products which crashes with orginal FOSS concepts...

but my dear buddy da topic is abt windows or LInux... not FOSS or other....

2.4 vs 2.6 dont hav any basic changes... so you should be a hard user of linux... mite be.. im just a biginner... but i nw one thing for sure...

fedora is RHEL + other features for desktops.. so if u lik RH then as a desktop user u should probly lik Fedora.. but it mite be coz u havnt been around with RHEL.. as u havent use RH products for few years.. it mite be true coz i hope u may be working with RH9 those days... wt ever it ios i prefer u to use fedora.. if u dont lik to update online.. i prefer u to get fedora 11...

Thats because most game lovers use windows. Try google it you will find answers. There are software called wine that any one can run games or softwares designed for windows in LINUX

I also.. believe Microsoft is ahead of others, with the quantity of softwares and facilities. But I always give the credit for free open source software (FOSS) for keeping the competence. Thanx for that still the MS is funding developing countries to improve their IT infrastructure.

How can you compare linux with windows?
Linux almost runs on any "device", if you want to talk about linux for PCs just talk about a distro!
The router thats given by SLT(ZTE 831) runs on linux, not windows! Windows is an OS only for PCs it only works on PCs no matter how much you try you wont be able to get a windows version that runs on a router,printer or any other device (other than on mobiles you have windows CE)

You have bumped upon some windows propaganda there are drivers for linux if theres no drivers you can try writing some!
even MS mail servers run on linux
