Cant you see the bright directory "linuxrc"??
If you have checked out the root directory of any linux system you'd see that the directory structure is similar to the linux systems that are running on PCs
all the common directories are there,
var,usr,mnt..etc

You were on a decision before you have even *properly* used a linux system! Thats why i said that

linuxrc is a program that is started in the start-up stage of the kernel prior to the actual boot process.

why would a normal user wants to dig into DirectX? answer that first, example we use MS Word, OpenOffice.org for word processing purposes but why the hell would a person wants to uncode it and explor unless hez a geek or a nerd or a extream computer guy. We can always use the softwares to leran you know (how to make applications)
