Machan I think you are not getting the point of the posts by Ex-muslimAhemed. They were there to explain that Islam does not treat women equally, Therefor there is no reall driven reason for them to convert to Islam.

Even though you try to correct the phrases from quran, they do not help you because your corrected version also clearly says, Islam does not treat women equally.

This is not a question about whether someones giving correct quotes or not, so lets go by your own words/qoutes presented here, which are from allah.

the real one...

[4:11] GOD decrees a will for the benefit of your children; the male gets twice the share of the female.*

So it is really clear that men and women are not treated equally since male gets a larger share.

why dude.. why dnt u get da actual meaning... check this out... lady gets a portion less than of man.. coz man is da backbone of the financial of a family.... cheers....
You really believe that the man is the backbone of the financial family?? In western countries??(Western countries because the thread starter says that they convert more to Islam). Machan it is a fact that this is not the case, not in every family. This is not something upon which you can justify this unfair division of inheritance.

the real one....

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

this goes to both.. if a man touch a women.. he should do wuzhu.. so does the grl.. if a lady touch a guy she should do it too... to ways baby,,,, pity on u man...

Good that you cleard this out man.

the real one...

[24:34] We have revealed to you clarifying revelations, and examples from the past generations, and an enlightenment for the righteous.

man i think u should revise the source... lemme knw abt this. i will try ma best to make u clear abt this issue...
Good that you clarified this one. Seems like this has nothing to do with the thread.

the real one....

[4:15] Those who commit adultery among your women, you must have four witnesses against them, from among you. If they do bear witness, then you shall keep such women in their homes until they die, or until GOD creates an exit for them.*
Footnote
If you can point out where the same rules are applied for men who commit adultery, then that would be some point on equal treatment. Otherwise this just supports the argument, Islam does not treat women equally.

[4:16] The couple who commits adultery shall be punished.* If they repent and reform, you shall leave them alone. GOD is Redeemer, Most Merciful.
Footnote

Good. Both of them are punished.

[4:17] Repentance is acceptable by GOD from those who fall in sin out of ignorance, then repent immediately thereafter. GOD redeems them. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise.

[4:18] Not acceptable is the repentance of those who commit sins until death comes to them, then say, "Now I repent." Nor is it acceptable from those who die as disbelievers. For these, we have prepared a painful retribution.

[4:19] O you who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit what the women leave behind, against their will. You shall not force them to give up anything you had given them, unless they commit a proven adultery. You shall treat them nicely. If you dislike them, you may dislike something wherein GOD has placed a lot of good.

[4:20] If you wish to marry another wife, in place of your present wife, and you had given any of them a great deal, you shall not take back anything you had given her. Would you take it fraudulently, maliciously, and sinfully?

Hmm, just seems like more and more stuff on what a man can or cannot do to a woman. Where are the parts that says what woman can do to a man? I do not see anything but unfair treatment here. Is woman a property of man.??

[24:2] The adulteress and the adulterer you shall whip each of them a hundred lashes. Do not be swayed by pity from carrying out GOD's law, if you truly believe in GOD and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their penalty.*
Footnote

[24:3] The adulterer will end up marrying an adulteress or an idol worshiper, and the adulteress will end up marrying an adulterer or an idol worshiper. This is prohibited for the believers.

Good.

[24:6] As for those who accuse their own spouses, without any other witnesses, then the testimony may be accepted if he swears by GOD four times that he is telling the truth.

why da hell u cant read the whole thing baby.......

Hmm, I think in your corrected version the word 'spouse' is substitued for the word 'woman'. But what you or the original translater forgot to do was change the word 'he' to 'he or she'. If he swears by GOD, four times that he is telling the truth. What happens if She swears by GOD, four times that she is telling the truth? Who will win the case? Man or the woman? That's an interesting question..

    TO the thread starter

Why did you post this thread

    let me answer

because there is a established idea that followers of islam do not honour womens rights.
    You too think that neda

You are not posting a thread on men being subjected to unfair treatment because you do not see any issue there

What's in the holy book does not matter to me
but what you practice matters big time

As I remember Islam does not allow you to loan money and get interest but people have these Islamic financial institutions or something that does exactly that but in a religiously correct way apparently
I don't laugh at that. You do it because it is a necessity

But I see that you guys do adhere to those laws degrading women because its in the book. Why isn't women's rights a necessity to you

    Friend,
Here in this thread you say its not in the book right :)
So why not practice that ok
I would really like to see your big words in action At least at home.

I hope my words are not too harsh
Give your women some autonomy and you got my respect
Just talking, educating "us" about all the nice things written about treating women in your holy book without practicing them and you get my contempt

To most of he people commenting here

You all are arguing about what's in the holy book and whats not.
    That is completely irrelevant.
The followers of Islam or any religion are at a disadvantage
They are trying to defend a book aimed to uphold integrity of an ancient society

Nobody follows the holy book when it results in losses. :)
People use the book as an excuse to defend their barbaric behaviour
So just tell them to get real

    peace

    Misdirection!!

"Islam has given its women the freedom which other major religions deny..."

    who's disagreeing :P
Since when was that a problem

What I'm saying is its the followers of islam who are reluctant to give women independence.
As I said I really don't care about what's said in the quran
What do you practice mate ?
You don't practice the Quran exactly that I know :)

    "we can argue abt it"

    Yes we can, all day
But what purpose does it serve if you don't do anything even at home about womens independence.
Trust me I have a number of muslim friends. and the girls really don't have a choice when it comes to many things

Do something about these stuff rather than talk
Do you really think that a girl can tell her father or mother that the pardha is too much of a hassle. It's hot and sweating so I want to wear something else today etc etc
    Can she do that "mate"
I mean really its decided by birth depending on the sect she belongs. Isn't it.

You guys "allow" women to do so many things
Women do not need anybody's permission to do anything
    They are just equals

You're just talking about the good things inside a book written thousands of years ago.(you want to argue even:lol:)

What are you doing now eh

    Show me the money

    as in jerry maguire

"shall we start with ur religion mate..."

    misdirection
do not get hurt. That was no my intention
My religion has its own dumb backward ideas in its book too
But I do not accept those things.
I am human so I know better
(I can understand why those were written then and that they are not required now.)

    Volume 2, Book 18, Number 167:
    Narrated Abu Musa:
The sun eclipsed and the Prophet got up, being afraid that it might be the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment). He went to the Mosque and offered the prayer with the longest Qiyam, bowing and prostration that I had ever seen him doing. Then he said, "These signs which Allah sends do not occur because of the life or death of somebody, but Allah makes His worshipers afraid by them. So when you see anything thereof, proceed to remember Allah, invoke Him and ask for His forgiveness."
see who is the real joker....

Great. This is precisely what I have been saying in some other threads.

The Bible and the Koran contain a lot of nonsense. Unfortunately, they are treated as HOLY SCRIPTURES.

The Thripitaka is not above board either. Luckily, it is not treated as a Holy or Sacred book. It was not written by the Buddha! It was written many centuries after the Buddha's death and so contains a lot of contradictions.

My own religion is not to be found in any book. If you want to find someone's religion, look at his conduct, not at the book he is worshiping.
