Yes of course, at the end you'll learn how to setup your own web server at home without spending a rupee.
Internet Connection is needed. Note that this will work only on static ip's.

1.How it works
Only one thing, we just make our computer a web server so everyone in the internet can access to your server (your computer). 100% Webhosting. When your computer is switched on your online.

2.Let's Start
We're going to setup a localhost. Those who doing php,asp must have a localhost to check their web pages.

Go and download WAMP http://www.wampserver.com

What is WAMP. If you set your web server you'll need a sever.

1.Apache (A free, reliable and using all the hosting companies
2.IIS(Coming with windows)

If you need php/mysql(must have for script installations such as phpbb, wordpress, joomla etc)Other apache modules

If we're going to setup these one by one, it'll be a hell of a task and even it'll be boring to me to tell it to you (Don't think that I don't know :D )

So wamp will do that task for us with a single mouse click. wamp installs On [W]indows with [A]pache, [M]ySql, [P]hp with essential stuff ( PHPMyadmin and so on )

At the installation process change the installation directory, but don't change anything else.

At the end remember to add a shortcut your desktop and if you want to run it at startup add a shortcut to startup folder on start menu.

Now open up your browser and type http://localhost. See now your computer has become a server.(If not working make sure wamp is running, a small icon must displayed in notification area)

3.Putting your sever online.

1.Click on wamp icon on notification area.
2.Choose "put online"

4.Where do you put your files?

1.Click on wamp icon on notification area.
2.Choose "www Directory" from the popup menu.
002.gif

3.Remove index.php and add your content( Remeber to rename your home page to index)

5. Your Domain
Now find out your IP Goto => www.whatismyip.com

Then create a free domain
.tk => www.dot.tk
.co.nr => www.freedomain.co.nr
.co.cc => www.free.co.cc

Upon registration set your redirect URL to your ip
eg:- If you're IP is 120.256.284 The URL will be http://120.256.284

Shared IP'S Will not work, only static IP'S

That's all. I'm sure you can't switch on your computer 24/7 * 365 days. So hosting a web site is not a good idea.

;) Here's a great tip. Sometime you'll need to share about 250MB or 700MB file with your friend. Stop wasting time on uploading it to a file hosting site. Just copy it to your www directory and send him the link.

    Well seems guys have been taking this guide seriously. I just told you this for an experiment. Any way I have tested this. I have to mention one thing; you will be able to host a small page within 512kbps SLT ADSL line. Yes of course, web hosting is cheaper than this.

    I have posted this for a testing. Teenagers like to do new things, isn't it? So just do it and ignore it. For high traffic file sharing, don't use it will not work properly. Still you can host a file and share it, tell your friend to download it using IDM.

    Remember SLT ADSL unlimited package is only RS 1600 (I can't remember the exact amount). Quality bandwidth will never be cheap!

    Dynamic IP'S will never work. Because these ip's a in a shared environment.

    And remember some ISPs give static Ip's those changes about twice a day. Any way the IP you'll get will never shared by other persons.

    ;)
