How are the job opportunities/salaries for the people who are doing networking?

I am not quite sure about those... because none from my batch got jobs in the Networking field... I am sorry...

Isn't there any opportunities for PHP People!!

For PHP people, limiting their ability to a job in a company is the worst thing that they can ever do... since the salary is quite low (Rs. 25000/- as I heard from my friends)... You can make several times more by doing freelancing jobs if u are a good PHP programmer...

Again same thing applies... How competent you are....

Zone 24 is a good place if you need to learn new technologies... but salary wise its not that much good with the workload... They do lot of projects based on FPGAs and image processing... simple PIC knowledge won't help u to survive there...

BSc Engineers - 50000/- to 55000/-
UCSC and equivalent - 35000/-
SLIIT - little less than UCSC people
Diploma people - 12000/- (just recruited to test their applications for bugs)

Machang, thanks for the info. My question is, people who're following external degrees such as BIT (UCSC), BIT (UoM) don't get chance for "Google Summer of Code" likewise so... Are there a difference IT companies have recognized between government university IT/ CS students, private (and semi government) university students (SLIIT, IIT, NIBM) and external degree holders (BIT)?

There are no different companies as such in the industry mchn... What they look for is your ability... at the end of the day every company wants profit not our benefits and welfare...

This world is not fair... u will have to compete with the people from government universities... no company gives preference to your degree or dip..but your skill....

For Computer Science & Engineering and Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering Fresh graduates

MIT (Software Engineer) - 65000/-

Virtusa (Software Engineer) - 60000/- to 75000/-

Cambio (Software Engineer) - 70000/-

WSO2 (Software Engineer) - 70000/- (the batch top from the CSE in this year is getting 95000/-)

Codegen (Software Engineer) - 70000/- to 80000/-

Brandix (ERP Consultant) - 55000/- (SLIIT and UCSC people as Developers same salary)

Creative Solutions (Software Engineer) - 65000/- to 70000/-
IFS (Software Engineer) - 50000/-


For MIT and WSO2 the degree you have got does not mean much but they need good project works like GSOC. And they do not test your coding ability but the problem solving ability. No experience required.

The virtusa is not a good company to work because they discriminate you based on your degree and GPA. (i.e SLIIT and UCSC people they are hiring as Associate Software Engineers and salary is 35000/-)

If you think of your freedom rather than salary then IFS is a better choice because they never keep u after 5.00pm for any reason....

If u are competent the educational qualifications do not matter much in IT field and above are the salaries u are going to get as a fresh graduate passing out from the uni.....

want to clarify on the thing mentioned about Virtusa. They directly hire as SE if you have following criteria.
1. BSc(Eng) graduate or
2. First class degree at IIT or
3. Winning an international competition like Imagine cup or GSOC or
4. you should be simply lucky to get through interviews with colors

otherwise you will be hired as ASEs. This is same for Moratuwa IT grads also.
