Minimum salary expectation for a CIMA passed fianlist is 50K according to CIMA sri lanka's survey last year
there is a big difference between expectations and reality...
oh yeah...believe me last week a cima passed finalist joined one insurance company from PWC for 15K . wat a shame
according to some top business tycoons in Sri lanka most of the companies have been advised by their directors to reduce the current minimum salary at least by 15% for new recruits, specially in the field of finance/accounting due to the excess supply at the moment. also there are signs of another financial crisis all over the world & in sri lanka in particular, which we will be able to confirm after this years budget.
CIMA ppl telling 50k is minimum just to promote their certification and earn more money from Students.
I know a Chartered Accountant working for 15k.

If He is a Chartered Accountant, Why should he works for 15k? he can start an Audit firm for practice , then at least he can earns around 75k per month(Net profit). since there are nearly 1500 members in Practice, Sri lanka have more than 50,000 companies to audit, both Private and PLC companies. So its not big deal to start an Audit firm and earn some good money, If he is A QUALIFIED Chartered Accountant(ACA).
anyway good thread

Highest paying Finance/Accounting Companies - Dialog Axiata(Specialist - around 80k + benifits),Aitken Spence, JKH,etc.
starting an audit firm, having quite a few companies to render your service and earn money are three different stages. You can't ride bicycles as soon as you got out of your mother's womb... and for audit firms, it will be always twins. because you can't register an audit firm as a sole propriety. It should be a partnership.
I feel like ppl tend to choose CFA over ACA cos there is a global demand for financial analysts.. & here in sl it is really hard to get a CFA for a job.. they have a mega demand & u must offer some abnormal packages to get one in, I knw a person who was offered almost 400K by one company here just to take the bugger in![]()
CFA is considered as a postgraduate qualification. and it is one of the toughest qualification to have under your name. a single stage is comprised with 8+ papers and you have to get all at one go. if you got 1 paper down, sorry sir, you have to do all the subjects again...
but there are people who has got through CFA. they are considered elite in corporate world and almost all the blue chips are trying have an another or to retain who they have already got. but most of the times they fail.
but no harm office pays. otherwise over 100K for an examමචන්ලා දන්න විස්තර ටිකක් දාමු බලන්න,
