you want better facilities for government uni's, better paychecks for their teachers. why'd you need to involve private uni's to discuss those matters :)
come straight mate, these aren't the points you were making a few pages back. you were saying something about private uni's and rich doctors

So still it's not an issue  Gov Unis exist

if, government has made a statement proving this, pls, feel free to share, if not, shit us not.
1)Gov only Spends 1.8% of Country's Income for Public Education as a Whole . Where Ithiopia and India Spends More Than 4% .And yet the percentage is declining every year .
2)Gov Degree Awarding institutions are not Promoted adequately ; or Upgraded its contents and widen its facilities and Attract Foreign Students .Instead they are deliberately being drawn back.
    3) Rajarata , Sabaragamuwa Eastern Jaffna Universities are all wayy short of their academic Staff . If Pvt universities gonna offer them a Salary 4 to 8 Times higher than they get , They'll invariably chose the Private Uni's . Gov Universities Will collapse no matter what

ok the rest of people who studied in private uni may become somewhat 'less known' clinicians :) who are clinicians none the less. they will still be qualified.
NO. Except Bunch of Doctors from NCMC before it Became Public in late 80's Almost All doctors (Except Foreign graduates) are Exclusively Being Built in Gov. University Set up ! As the Topic implies about Sri Lankan Private Universities We are yet to see the performance of clinicians from local private medical graduates ( IF they ever graduate )

so you want to increase the payments of government lecturers so they won't leave for private uni's and at the same time, you want the private campus' to not operate? is that right...you should take a minute and put yourself together..

    stick to the topic bro;);):yes::yes:

everybody means everybody :) may be if everybody got paid better, they could all afford private education

anyway tell me the topic, I will stick to it.

1.8 % you say? well that is trice the amount thread starters asking for, can we assume that matter settled then?

i've been reading some posts from this thread and my two cents :P

private universities should not be denounced as a failure till they prove themselves, let them be started and if they become a failure action can be taken then.

govt. lecturers in my opinion doesn't get the salary they deserve, they should be commended that they continue to work for such low salaries, what needs to be done is they should get better facilities and salaries at govt unis. that would greatly increase the quality of education in govt unis.

next that doesn't mean only govt unis should exist in our country. education should be a diverse field with a mixture of different govt and private institutes offering students a choice. importantly a choice to decide their future.

finally i want to say something about doctors. there was a time long ago when we produced quality healthcare professionals in our govt uni system. but is it the same today. does today's graduates get a proper international standard education in medicine? i think that is not the case, and sadly foreign graduates tend to have a better training to deal with patients (i'm not saying about those ppl who come back with fake degrees, those quacks . .but the real ones who come back, pass one of the most difficult exam in the world to get their license to practice) and about private graduates in our country, lets give them a chance when they graduate . . they hopefully will provide a good healthcare if they get the proper training.

SL Government provides free education to more than 90% students in school level . and 2% to higher studies . Do you ever think that how much of money SL government spends on free education... it is impossible to spend even more.. cos government spends more than 10 lacks for creating a Doctor and more than 5 lahks for engineer .. do you ever think that how the hell does government get that much of money ?

every single man in this country pays for free education... example . A Clark who pays for free education has a son . that son couldn't enter to the government campus because of 2% ... now can you pls tell me is it fair?.. his father pays tax but he cannot go to campus...

then your next point is increase the level free education . it is ok if government has money to spend ... then SL government has to increase the tax level more than you imagine . do you agree to pay more to government .. then that is what you should do

The Minimum Percentage Spent for Education has been Universally accepted as 6% . Actually We were Spending 6% 3 decades ago.

how are we ever going to know how well they might be doing if we are not giving it a chance, it may do wonders, so have some faith and go to government doctors in the meantime
Sri Lankan Health care delivery system is functioning Miraculously with its limited resources being one of the best in South Asia. Former Health Minister used to say We cannot give jobs for Doctors anymore. Since we aren't short of doctors as in 80's I don't think its time for trying anything new jeopardizing the education of the vast majority (The skilled but "POOR" Students as you have mentioned.)
The last chance we gave turned to be a catastrophe .Students who sat their A/L s in Home Science Students who Failed all their Subjects ended up in NCMC to Become Doctors

being a doctor or wanting to be one is not some on demand basis done thing, People just want to be doctors, that's a passion, your government can't stop you from studying in a field you love, regardless the amount we already have , a person should be able to study medicine if he's got the passion for it. I suppose it's pretty much like wanting to become kind of an artist or wanting to produce something of your own. medicine requires new findings and inventions each day, different people should get the chance to feed that need, who knows, they may be able to give a cure for cancer and who knows what all.
