Tax on Motor vehicles also hiked

Tax on Motor vehicles which include cars, vans, trishaws and motor bicycles have been increased immediate effect. The Ministry of Finance and Planning announced today that the increase was made to ensure a drop in the vehicles imported to the country in order to reduce the high traffic congestions prevalent. The Ministry also said that this move will help bring down the use of fuel by motorists.
The classifications of the Tax have been made to correspond with the engine capacity of the vehicles. Hybrid vehicle production taxes below 1000CC have been increased by 14 % with tax for all hybrids above 3000CC being increased by 57%.
Production duties for cars and vans have been classified into the fuel type used together with the engine capacity. The tax for cars that use Petrol under 1000CC have been increased by 85% with cars having an engine capacity of over 3000CC being increased by 125%. Production duties on Diesel cars have been increased from upto 114% to 173% to correspond with the engine capacity.
However there has been no change in the tax imposed on tractors, busses and Lorries. (Hafeel Farisz)

All vessels carrying motor vehicles will be diverted to Hambantota Port for unloading from May 31, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority said.The SLPA added that they have taken this initiative in consultation with shipping lines and motor vehicle importers.
“Vehicle parking yards in the Port have become congested due to the large influx of imports in spite of the SLPA releasing many underutilized areas for vehicle parking” added a statement issued by the SLPA.
Port Authority also says that in addition to the above problems, vehicle importers are failing to clear their vehicles expeditiously from the Port thus causing inconvenience for the efficient functioning of the port.
“Due to the non availability of berthing facilities at the Colombo Port, vessels experience delays of more than ten days and as a result freight rates have been increased by the lines which in turn add to the cost of the selling price of a vehicle in the local market” further added the official statement.

bluebird එකට අකමැත්තක් නෑ.. ඒත් ඒකෙත් fuel consumption එක වැඩියි නේද..? මට එක්කෙනෙක් කිව්වා auto එක 8ක් වගේ කරන්නේ කියලා.. නැත්නම් නියම වාහනේ තමයි.. මේක මම දැක්කේ autolanka එකේ.. 12/65ක් කියනවා(yom-1996/300-64**/full option)... තාම බලන්න ගියේ නෑ.. ඔයාගේ ව්ඉස්තරේ අනුව නම් ඉතිං බලන්න ගියාට වැඩක් නෑ..
මම හොයන්නේ 15 ට අඩු එකක් මල්ලි.. ඒ ගානට සෙට් වෙන වාහන මොනවද තියෙන්නේ..? ටිකක් මේ වගේ හොඳ look එකක් තියෙන ඒවා..
