PSG director Leonardo confirms negotiations for Ibrahimovic

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has admitted that the capital city club is in negotiations with AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a potential summer transfer.

PSG had a 60 million euro offer for the Sweden international and Thiago Silva accepted, and the club has now scheduled a meeting with Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola to discuss the attacker's personal terms.

"Yes, we are negotiating and we also spoke yesterday in Sweden," the PSG director stated to Sky Sport Italia. "We will soon meet with Raiola and then we will see what can happen.

"At the moment everything is possible, because the transfer market is like that - it's always open. The deals can only be considered done when they are in fact done."

Raiola spoke with his client in Sweden on Wednesday and is now traveling to the French capital with lawyer Vittorio Rigo, who handles the legal side of all deals involving the 30-year-old.

Pato unperturbed by potential Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic departures

Alexandre Pato has reacted philosophically to the prospect of AC Milan losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain, while at the same time hinting that he could leave San Siro himself when his contract expires in 2014.

The Rossoneri have accepted a 60 million euro offer for Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic, but Pato feels that Milan is still one of the teams to beat in the race for the Serie A title, even without the two star players.

"Everyone is the master of their own destiny," the forward told the La Gazzetta dello Sport. "[Milan is] still one of the favorites for the league title, along with Juventus and Inter. [The goal is] to win as much as possible until the end of my contract, in 2014. "

For now, though, Pato's primary focus is on ending his country's wait for a first Olympic title at this summer's Games in London.

"I'm feeling good and I want to bring home a medal," the injury-prone attacker told Sky Sport Italia. "We're a different team now compared to 2008 and we want to get to the final."

Pato, who joined Milan from Internacional in 2007, was part of the Selecao side beaten by Argentina in the semifinals in Beijing four years ago.

Adrian hoping Barcelona allows Alba to represent Spain at Olympics

    196228hp2.jpg

Adrian is desperately hoping that Barcelona allows Jordi Alba to represent Spain in this summer's Olympics.

Coach Luis Milla has named the attacking left back in his provisional squad for the games in London but the Catalans are reluctant to release their new signing given he only arrived at Camp Nou earlier in July after playing a key role in La Roja's Euro 2012 success.

Adrian, though, is hoping that Barca will back down as he feels that Alba is integral to the team's hopes of winning gold.

"Barcelona are looking after their own interests but it is an issue that must be resolved with the [Spanish Football] Federation," the Atletico Madrid forward told reporters. "It would be very important for him to be with us. He is a great player, as he demonstrated in the European Championship."

Spain is under pressure to underline its dominance of the global game by triumphing in London but Adrian is quick to point out that the team will face great competition for the title.

"Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Britain and us - they are the five strongest sides," he mused. "But there are other national teams that could cause a surprise. Today, anyone can beat you.

"We have our own responsibility, though, because we are European champions and we should try to get as far as possible. But we will go game by game, knowing that every match is a final. Each squad is very good and if you relax, you're out."

Spain has been drawn in Group D alongside Morocco, Japan and Honduras.

Capello set for talks over Russia job

    181233hp2.jpg

Fabio Capello is set for talks regarding taking charge of Russia after receiving official backing from the country's top brass.

Russian sport minister Vitaly Mutko confirmed to Russia 1 Tv that Capello is in Moscow talking with the country's football federation, despite reports stating that the former England boss is stuck at the airport due to visa problems.

Mutko has talked up the credentials of the Italian coach, despite reportedly favoring Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini for the post.

Previous coach Dick Advocaat left the role after his side's disappointing exit at the group stages of Euro 2012 this summer, and Mutko believes Capello is a good candidate to revive the fortunes of the national team.

"I think he would be a good option," Mutko said to reporters. "He knows how to win. When we decided on Guus Hiddink [former coach], the first thing we looked at was the coach's ability to win."

Pardew confident Ba will stay at Newcastle

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew remains confident that striker Demba Ba will stay at the club this summer.

The 27-year-old scored 16 league goals for the Magpies last season and is reportedly the subject of interest from several clubs due to the presence of a release clause in his contract.

Pardew admits the Senegal striker is keen to play in a more central role next term, but he insists there is no indication that he wishes to leave Tyneside.

"I've not seen any sign from Demba since he came back that suggests he wants to find another club. I don't sense that at all," Pardew told the Mirror. "I genuinely don't see a situation where he wants to move on. He has not stressed to me he wants to move to pastures new.

"He has said to me he wants some reassurance from me. He wants a more striking role this season and I think he will."

The 50-year-old went on to reveal that he is keeping tabs on out-of-contract winger Junior Hoilett, who has recently been offered a new deal by Blackburn.

"Wherever he ends up, we're keeping a close eye on that because he's a good player," he added.

    Kagawa ready for challenge

    :cool:Kagawa ready for challenge

    shinjikagawasmilepresser20120712_576x324.jpg

Kagawa joined United from Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund last month for £17 million. The transfer is the latest step in Kagawa's rapid rise, following his move to Germany from the J.League's Cerezo Osaka in 2010, and the forward says he is eager to continue this progress at Old Trafford.

"I'm happy to be here and every day I'll take the chance to improve myself and move further up," Kagawa said. "It's definitely the greatest challenge of my career and I hope to learn and improve every day.

"I've always said I have to improve my playing qualities; now I've been here a bit I can really feel the difference. It's a top-level club and environment, and when the other internationals join us it will be even better."

Despite coming under increased media scrutiny in the Premier League, Kagawa insists he is prepared for his move to England and does not anticipate any problems fitting in with his United team-mates.

"I definitely feel the attention of the media globally now. I'm a member of a great club at Manchester United," he said. "I think I can handle the pressure and am pretty confident I can adapt to the style of the Premier League."Everything here shows me it's a really big club and it's a great honour to play here. I want to really contribute by achieving concrete results.

"Language is very important to me. I'm very motivated to learn English; I hope I can learn it quickly so I can communicate with my team-mates very soon."

Meanwhile, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson moved to ease pressure on the Japan international, but also hinted Kagawa could have an immediate impact as the club look to reclaim the Premier League title next season.

"He can give us that bit extra in the final third of the field," Ferguson said. "If his goalscoring record continues, he could be a very good player for us.

"He can start the first league game quite easily. I've got no problem with that. We shouldn't be looking at one player changing the way we play but he could make a difference."

Shinji Kagawa is confident he can adapt to life in the Premier League, but admits his move to Manchester United will provide the "greatest challenge" of his career so far.

    Nilmar to join Al Rayyan

    196790hp2.jpg

Villarreal forward Nilmar is on the verge of completing a move to Qatar to play for Al Rayyan.

The Brazilian had been linked with a host of clubs, including Internacional, following Villarreal's relegation from La Liga last season.

"Nilmar [is set] to complete the negotiations attached to the club Al Rayyan," read a statement on the Qatar outfit's official website on Thursday.

Subject to finalizing the deal, Nilmar will link up with fellow Brazilian Rodrigo Tabata next term.

Nilmar, 27, scored 26 goals in 85 Primera Division appearances during his time at Villarreal.

    Vertonghen seals Spurs switch

    vertonghen_2775316.jpg

Tottenham have confirmed that Jan Vertonghen has passed his medical to finally complete his protracted transfer from Ajax.

Spurs announced over the weekend that an agreement had been reached to secure the services of the Belgium international from the Eredivisie outfit.

The highly-rated centre-back has been a long-term target for the White Hart Lane side, with their interest first emerging during Harry Redknapp's tenure.

Spurs pressed ahead with their bid despite Redknapp's departure and held off interest from North London rivals Arsenal to land the 25-year-old.

New manager Andre Villas-Boas will now be able to call on the versatile defender for the new Premier League season, with midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson the other new face to join Spurs this summer.

A statement on the club's official Twitter feed announced: "We are delighted to announce that Jan Vertonghen has completed his transfer from Ajax after passing his medical."

    :shocked:PSG to sign Milan duo

    Silvio-Berlusconi-2012_2741593.jpg

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has claimed he has sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris St Germain.

The Milan stars would move to the big-spending French club in a €62million deal (£49m).

PSG sporting director Leonardo had earlier confirmed that talks were set to take place with Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola on Thursday.

And Berlusconi has told the Italian media that both the Swedish striker and Brazilian defender will be leaving the club as part of cost-cutting measures at the San Siro."Yes, I have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG," Berlusconi is quoted as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We save €150m over two years."

Van der Vaart has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga, with Hamburg saying this week that the Dutchman was just the type of player they are looking for. "We have drawn up a target profile and Rafael van der Vaart would be an ideal fit,'' Hamburg coach Thomas Fink said.

But with fellow Spurs midfielder Luka Modric already likely to leave, Tottenham are reluctant to sell - and Van der Vaart seems happy to stay.

"It's unbelievable how my name is speculated around Europe. I can only say these are only speculations. I will probably stay at Tottenham," the former Real Madrid player told Bild.

Van der Vaart previously spent three seasons at Hamburg, scoring 29 goals in 74 games before leaving to join Real, and said he may return to the Bundesliga later in his career. "Maybe it will happen anytime in the future," he said.

    Milan renew Tevez interest

    Milan renew Tevez interest

    carlostevezhappybench20120321_576x324.jpg

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has indicated that Carlos Tevez is unlikely to join the club in the summer.

Milan made public their interest in signing Tevez during the January transfer window while the striker was in exile in Argentina, but he has since returned to Manchester City and made a first appearance in six months on Wednesday night as he helped spark a comeback in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

Galliani said he was still a huge admirer of Tevez but, with Milan having ultimately signed back-up option Maxi Lopez before the window closed, he does not expect the Rossoneri to revive their interest.

"A train like that doesn't pass for a second time," Galliani said. "Yesterday I watched Carlitos, who hadn't played for six months, come on with the tenacity he always showed and he changed the game. This could be a turning point for Manchester City

"I think he's terrific. I was a big fan of Tevez, but destiny dictated what happened and we are more than pleased with Maxi Lopez."

Meanwhile, Alexandre Pato is to fly to America to undergo specialist consultation on his muscular injuries, with the forward having suffered a string of problems.

"Pato is undergoing a special form of treatment and he'll probably be flying back to the US next week to consult another expert and get a second opinion," Galliani said. "Pato will be fit again. He absolutely has to be."
