I know what does UI mean but I am not sure about the Engineering part which goes with it.

Engineer is the one who implements the User Interface
and decide how each component interacts with another and make sure
the each EVENT made by the input devices is captured and redirected to the proper methods. Windows has its own user Interface so normally if we develop something for windows platform you don't need to worry about the UI because it's already there. but when it comes to Video games, and special software (like Photoshop, Media Player) it's better implement a custom UI.. it's not a very big thing but when the software gets complex and bigger ,everything should be managed properly.. you got the point now?

There is no engineering associated with the UI(at least for web UI and stand alone PC applications) designing. It's just designing. You think you know everything but you don't. Thanks for copy and paste lot of bull shit from internet.

designing and testing..? how ironic.the more you talk the more you show your lack of knowledge. software development is not limited to designing and testing. you probably a .NET/Java developer that's why you no nothing beyond your scope. there is also software architecture do you even know about this? no ? I guess so.. developing and testing is just a part of software development other than that there is analyzing, database designing, prepare various kind of charts and diagrams , prepare reports ,implementing so there are so many things need to be done. I think you are just a developer. actually developer is just a single person who does a small part of a big software..
