Booker Dewitt after Wounded Knee if he chooses to become baptised and
be born again, goes on to become Comstock and create Columbia with the
assistence of the Luteces and their Lutece Field.
But due to the overuse of the Luteces' dimensional-jumping
'contraption', Comstcock consequently becomes sterile (eventually
getting cancer- thus the need for a seed to continue what he
intended).
The Archangel (the Luteces? or their machine??) has foretold of the
destrucion of Columbia if he does not produce an heir of his own seed.
After repeated unsuccesful attempts with his wife (Lady Comstock) to
create an heir he enlists (forces?) the help of the Luteces to finding
his own other dimensional self who said 'No' to the baptisam and is
deeply in gambling debt and makes him an offer of wiping away the debt
in exchange for his baby daughter.
Booker agrees at first but then changes his mind and tries to grab the
daughter away at the last moment when the portal is closing but is
left with only Anna's fingertip
Booker is reduced to 20 years of self-pity and hard drinking.
Comstock menawhile changes Anna's name to Elizabeth and raises her as
his own, all the while trying to force his wife and the Luteces not to
reveal her true origin.
Lady Comstock doesn't want the 'Bastard' and thinks he's the product
of a affair between Comstock and Lutece sister, and comfronts her
about it.
Afraid she will tell the world about the 'Bastard' Comstock kills her,
and blames it on Daisy Fitzroy who was at the time their maid (?) and
happens to come running in due to the screams.
And then he hires Fink to kill the Luteces.
Daisy escapes and forms and alliance with Slate and Chen Li the
gunsmith to form the Vox Populi rebellion agaisnt COmstock.
Elizabeth for some reason (maybe due to her multi-dimensional nature)
has the ability to open tears into other dimensions and even create
create entirely new dimensions at will. Comstock is scared of her
abilities and pretending to protect her from the Vox and Daisy keeps
her locked and under supervision within the Monument Island and along
with the Siphon limits her abilities to just opening tears.
She grows up caged and protected by the Songbird till the day
Comstock's ready to let her take over and live up to the prophecied
day that she will 'Drown in Flames the Mountains of Man'
The Luteces of the multiverse are in deep regret about what they
helped to accomplish and devise a plan to get Booker from the
dimension Anna was taken from, to go to Comstock's world, get
ELizabeth and prevent everything from ever happening.
Booker on his way to 'rescuing' Elizabeth, has her open and step into
a world in which the Vox are fully armed and Booker is a Martyr.
Seeing Booker again causes Daisy Fitzroy to think he's a spy or a
ghost and wanna kill him.
Fighting their way to get to the Fist Lady airship (killing Daisy on
the way) and to escape Columbia, Songbird crashes the show and
sntaches Elizabeth and takes her back to Comstock.
EVerytime Booker tries to get to her SOngbird stops him. So she
becomes what COmstock wants of her simply due to the passage of time
and loss off hope. AT the end when she is overseeing the destruction
of 'the Mountains of Man' Elizabeth of old uses all her might to get
Dewitt back to her time and gives him the key to rescuing her from
Comstock and escaping and controlling Songbird.
With the help of the Luteces' cryptic intervention they manage to kill
Comstock, escape Comstock House and use Songbird to ward off a heavy
attack by the Vox.
They learn the Siphon within the Monument is limiting her powers and
destroy the Statue using Songbird and hence Elizabeth finally gets all
her powers enabling her to kill Songbird by tearing through to the
Rapture underwater universe.
She leads Booker to the lighthouse mulitidimensional gateway, explains
that she is her daughetr Anna and that Comstock is alive in another
million worlds. She takes Booker to the world at the beginning where
he was gonna be baptised after WOunded Knee and explains along with
the Elizabeths of other dimensions that he is both Comstock as well as
well Dewitt and drowns him before he can be baptised and be born again
as Comstock. Thus all the Elizabeths disappear and Only Anna is left.
After the credits we see Booker alive in his own world and opens the
door to the baby carriage.
What I don't get is, even if Booker is drowned before the baptisam and
before he turns into Comstock, how would this affect all the other
Bookers/Comstocks in the other millions of dimensions??
