Sevilla and City 'in Negredo talks'

    soc_g_negredo1x_576.jpg

Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo seems set for a move to Manchester City, despite recent reports suggesting that he would become an Atletico Madrid player by the end of the week.

Speaking at the presentation of new signing Victor Marchin, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said he had run out of patience with the Madrid club over their failure to agree a fee, adding: “Right now, there is a 0% chance that Negredo will sign for Atletico.”

Although the Atletico move has stalled, Del Nido has said 27-year-old Negredo - who netted 25 league goals last season - is not short of admirers, and AS has reported that the club are in talks with City director of football Txiki Begiristain.“There are two teams in the United Kingdom that are very interested in taking Negredo, and he could be on his way,” he said.

AS said City manager Manuel Pellegrini had been eager to sign Negredo for Malaga last season and has urged his new club to do everything possible to bring him to Manchester. It is understood Negredo, who grew up in Madrid, had been keen to head to the Vicente Calderon, and the latest developments are more frustration for manager Diego Simeone, who has already missed out on signing Jeremy Toulalan.

Galliani hints at Honda deal in near future

    292136_heroa.jpg

The AC Milan CEO refused to quell speculation that the club are set to imminently sign the Japan international but denied claims that any transfer has been completed AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has played coy on the possibility that the club has signed Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow, though hinted that a deal in the near future was possible.

Several Italian media outlets claimed on Thursday that the midfielder, 27, has agreed to leave his Russian club for San Siro this summer for €2.5 million on a four-year contract. However, Galliani denied that the Rossoneri had secured the signing of the Japan international, who featured at the Confederations Cup, though refused to rule out the possibility that he would be brought on board at the Italian club soon.

"At the moment, [Honda] is a CSKA Moscow player," he told Sky Sport, "but who can predict what will happen in the future."The midfielder, who has already confessed his desire to leave the Russian capital during the summer transfer window, is believed to be available on a cut-price deal due to the fact that his contract with CSKA runs out on January 1, 2014.

Rooney would fit well with Barcelona, says Pique

    272959_heroa.jpg

The Spain international defender, who played alongside the England forward at Manchester United, believes his former team-mate could be a huge success at Camp Nou Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is convinced former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney would be a great fit for the Catalan giants, were he to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Speculation surrounding the England international's future has been rife after retired United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that Rooney had requested a transfer away from the club.

The former Everton forward has been linked with a host of suitors, and Pique – who spent four years with Rooney at Old Trafford – is adamant Barcelona would be the perfect destination.

“I know he has what's needed to be one of the three best players in the world. He'd fit well with Barcelona,” Pique told Sport.“He can adapt to many positions. He's best as the centre-forward, but we have seen him on the left or right side.

“He is very versatile, strong, fast and has great technique. I don't think he would have any problems adapting.”Rooney, who scored 12 league goals in 26 appearances last season, returned to Carrington for pre-season training on Wednesday ahead of talks with David Moyes to decide his United future.

Raiola: Inter and Milan should merge

    122579_heroa.jpg

The outspoken agent says Inter and AC Milan should merge in order to be competitive in Europe once more AC Milan and Inter should join forces in order to compete with the best clubs in Europe, is the controversial view held by agent Mino Raiola.

Milan have not gone beyond the quarter-final stages since winning the Champions League in 2007 while Inter, who won the competition in 2010, have failed to qualify for Europe's premier tournament for the second successive season.

Raiola believes somewhat contentiously that the best way to restore Italian dominance in Europe is for the two arch rivals to merge.

“The situation Italian football finds itself in is difficult,” he told Gazzetta.it.

“Milan and Inter, instead of competing against one and other, they should join forces.

“Lazio and Roma could have one strong club, rather than only two weak ones.”

However, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani came to the defence of his club, insisting a merger is not necessary.

“Raiola’s hypothesis to merge Milan and Inter to be more competitive might be a good idea, but never mind, we are already so strong.”

The Rossoneri finished in third place in Serie A this season and will have to go through qualifying if they hope to reach the Champions League group stage.

The Nerazzurri on the other hand had a very disappointing season, finishing ninth and missing out on Europe altogether.

The 30-year-old is nearing a move to the Turkish side according to his agent, after revealing his intentions to leave Benfica this summer Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo is closing in on a deal which would see him join Fenerbahce, his agent has revealed.

The Paraguay international, who scored 31 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese side last season, has been linked with Manchester City and Cardiff in recent weeks, but a switch to Fener is appearing most likely for the striker.

“The negotiations between the two clubs are going well and the agreement is practically closed,” Pedro Aldave told Fanatik.“There are only a few details to be resolved.“His signing could come at any time.”

Benfica have already bolstered their attacking options in the transfer market, signing forward Lazar Markovic from Partizan, winger Miralem Sulejmani from Ajax and midfielder Filip Djuricic from Heerenveen.Cardozo’s contract expires with the Eagles in the summer of 2016.

Ronaldinho: We’re going to shed blood

The 33-year-old says his team will stop at nothing in an attempt to turn around a 2-0 first leg deficit in their semi-final Copa Libertadores tie against Newell’s Old Boys Ronaldinho has fired a warning to semi-final opponents Newell’s Old Boys insisting Atletico Mineiro will "shed blood" to reach the Copa Libertadores final.

Goals from Maxi Rodriguez and Ignacio Scocco gave the Argentine side a 2-0 first leg win on Wednesday in Rosario.

A hard fought encounter saw five yellow cards handed out, and Ronaldinho expects more of the same next Wednesday.

“It’s not over,” he told reporters. “We’re going to play for our lives, for the history of the club. We’re going to shed our blood there.”

Paraguayan outfit Olimpia lead Colombian side Santa Fe 2-0 in the other semi-final.“It’s a very good result but the tie is open. We’ve played against the best team in the Libertadores, according to the statistics, and we won with authority,” Newell’s coach Gerardo Martino told reporters.

Atletico Mineiro are the highest scoring team in the competition with 25 goals from 11 games, with 14 of them coming in their five home matches.

Arsenal make improved €27m offer for Higuain

    287644_heroa.jpg

The Gunners are confident that Real Madrid will accept their fresh club-record bid for the Argentine striker, with an agreement possible within the next 24 hoursArsenal have made an improved offer of €27 million for Gonzalo Higuain.

The Gunners are confident their new bid will be enough to secure the Real Madrid striker, with sources saying the fee could be agreed by the two clubs 'within the next 24 hours'.

Arsenal had been reluctant to pay more than €24.5m for the Argentinian, but manager Arsene Wenger sanctioned a fresh bid closer towards Real's €30m valuation of the player.

It is understood that the compromise figure of €27m could be enough to finalise a deal that has been in the pipeline for a number of weeks.

Goal reported 13 days ago that an Arsenal delegation had flown out to Madrid to finalise the Higuain signing with their Madrid counterparts.

Those talks did not result in an agreement but the dialogue continued in the intervening period and, despite Wenger considering an alternative proven striker, a breakthrough is close to being reached.

Higuain's personal terms have already been agreed in principle, with a €117000-a-week contract on the table. This will bring the forward in line with Arsenal's top earners Theo Walcott and skipper Thomas Vermaelen, providing a bumper rise on his relatively modest €75,000-a-week deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Juventus also made the prolific forward an offer but are unwilling to pay a €23.5m-plus fee after pairing Carlos Tevez with fellow new signing Fernando Llorente.

Wenger has prioritised the signing of a top forward this summer and retains a concrete interest in Wayne Rooney, who is keen to sever his ties with Manchester United, as well as a third big-name striker. The Higuain deal would comfortably smash the club's transfer record.

Arsenal began their summer recruitment drive on Monday after completing the signing of Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre.

Besiktas submit offer for Tottenham striker Adebayor

    281789_heroa.jpg

The 29-year-old scored just five goals in 25 Premier League appearances last season and is the subject of a 'serious bid' from the Turkish club
Besiktas have made an offer for Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Turkish club's director Ahmet Kavalci.

The 29-year-old joined Andre Villas-Boas' side on a permanent deal from Manchester City in August 2012 after impressing during a season-long loan spell at White Hart Lane.

But the former Arsenal player struggled for form last season, hitting just five goals in 25 Premier League appearances, and now Besiktas claim to have made a substantial offer for the forward.

"It is certainly true that we are looking at the idea of a transfer. We have made a serious bid for Adebayor," Kavalci told Fanatik. "That, in turn, has given us a figure for the player, which is slightly above the amount that we imagined. "However, making a signing as big as this immediately is nothing but a dream.

"Negotiations always take a long time. I hope that we will get a chance to have a meeting soon."

Gomez too expensive for Fiorentina, says Prade

    292649_heroa.jpg

The Artemio Franchi side have denied the striker is set to move to Serie A as his price tag could pose too much of an obstacle Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez will not be moving to Fiorentina this summer as he is too expensive, according to the Viola's sporting director Daniele Prade.

A number of recent reports suggested the Serie A side have already agreed personal terms with Gomez and would be willing to pay an €18 million transfer fee for the 27-year-old.

However, Prade has insisted a transfer is still far away as Bayern's asking price for the striker and that financial fair play regulations could block the move.

"There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about a situation concerning Fiorentina. Some incredible things have been said and written, even saying Gomez has undergone a medical, even though I've denied all of them," Prade told reporters.

"The situation Gomez is pretty simple. There is nothing done at this moment. He is a strong player, but he is very expensive.

"Fiorentina's financial situation is stable, but we have to respect certain parameters. Those are not in place right now. We also have to follow the financial fair play regulations."

Gomez has a contract with Bayern until the summer of 2016 and a transfer fee in excess of €20m could be needed to lure him away from the Allianz Arena.

Jese Rodriguez hints at Madrid exit

    291076_heroa.jpg

The attacker is regarded as one of the club's most promising youngsters, but he could be on the move after seeing first team opportunities restricted
Jese Rodriguez has admitted that he is unsure about his future at Real Madrid and is considering his options.

The forward has been one of the stars of the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey this summer after previously impressing with Real Madrid Castilla in 2012-13.

However, he's been finding first team football hard to come by at the Santiago Bernabeu and could opt to move on in order to get more playing time elsewhere.

"I don't know what the club wants with me. I assume they will want to offer me a renewal, but I don't know what I will do. I am not going to lie about it," the 20-year-old told Marca.

"I am calm about my future. I've had a good season and I'm doing well at the World Cup now. I'm relaxed.

"Once the World Cup is over, We'll open talks to discuss my future."

Rodriguez, who has a contract until June 2014, has already netted five goals for Spain's Under-20 side to help them to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

    Hulk ponders Zenit exit

    288905_heroa.jpg

The powerful attacker is considering his options after several clubs showed their interest in luring him away from his current club Brazil international Hulk has admitted that he could leave Zenit St Petersburg this summer, with a number of offers on the table from interested parties.

The 26-year-old joined Zenit from Porto in the summer of 2012, but has endured a mixed time in Russia, with early reports of dressing room unrest as a result of his large salary and an unsavoury racism storm involving the club's supporters.

As a result, he could be on the move again ahead of the 2013-14 campaign, with Monaco and Chelsea closely monitoring his situation.

"I have received some offers. A number of clubs are interested in me. But if I do leave, it has to be a step up to a better club and a better league," the attacker told TV Paraiba.

"I am happy to stay here, though, if a transfer does not materialise. Zenit are a great club and I am happy here."

Hulk's contract with Zenit runs until June 2017.

Internacional set €25m asking price for Damiao

    227868_heroa.jpg

The attacker is continually being linked with a move to Europe, but any interested clubs will have to meet Inter's asking price Internacional sporting director Luis Cesar Souto de Moura has made it clear that the club will not let go of star striker Leandro Damiao unless their €25 million valuation of the Brazil international is met.

The 23-year-old has attracted the interest of clubs such as Olympique de Marseille and Tottenham, but the Brazilian outfit will not allow him to move on on the cheap.

"An offer for Leandro Damiao will only be considered if it's around €25 million," Moura told Radio Guaiba.

However, the Internacional director has insisted that they have yet to receive an official offer for the prolific striker.

"There is no offer for Leandro Damiao. We understand the following as an offer: when an agent or club make an official enquiry and expresses interest in the player."The striker's Internacional contract runs until 2017.

PSG tell Barcelona Thiago Silva is not for sale

    290116_heroa.jpg

The French giants have reiterated that the former AC Milan star is going nowhere as they are determined to hold on to the centre-back Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that the Ligue 1 champions have no intention of selling Thiago Silva this summer amid strong interest from Barcelona.

The Catalans have made the Brazil international one of their main targets as they bid to strengthen their defence ahead of next season, but PSG have made it clear that the 28-year-old is not for sale at any price.

"Thiago Silva is not for sale. He will stay at the club until the end of his contract," Al-Khelaifi was quoted as saying by Sport.

"The problem is not that Barca are not offering us enough money. We simply do not want to negotiate his sale.

"We won't evaluate any offers or contemplate selling him. We won't even sit down to negotiate.

"Selling is exactly the opposite of what we want to do. Our intention, after winning the domestic league title, is to fight for other more ambitious goals and make more signings."

Thiago Silva is under contract with PSG until June 2017.

Tevez & Llorente will make Juve great again, says Bonucci

    245365_heroa.jpg

The Italy international is buoyed by the Bianconeri's transfer dealings so far this summer and claims they have already closed the gap on their European rivals Leonardo Bonucci believes the signings of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente will turn Juventus into one of Europe's great teams again.

The Turin giants successfully defended their Serie A title in 2012-13, but they were unable to make an impact in the Champions League as Bayern Munich proved to be too strong in the quarter-finals.

However, Bonucci feels that Juve's transfer policy this summer is further proof that they are on their way back to the summit of European football.

"There might not have been much talk about them in the press, but Llorente and Tevez are both extraordinary signings in my opinion," Bonucci told Corriere dello Sport.

"Everybody knows Tevez and his qualities. Llorente made an excellent impression on me when I had to mark him once with the national team.

"I'd say that we are on our way to joining the great teams in Europe again. The gap with the elite has already become smaller."

Juventus are expected to make Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna their third marquee signing of the summer transfer window in the coming days.
