Indonesia 1-8 Chelsea: Six different scorers for rampant Blues

299422hp2.jpg

Chelsea completed their pre-season tour of Asia with a comprehensive 8-1 victory over an Indonesia XI in Jakarta.

Eden Hazard starred for Jose Mourinho’s side and opened the scoring from the penalty spot before turning provider for Ramires.

Demba Ba and John Terry both struck before half time, with Bertrand Traore, Romelu Lukaku and Ramires all among the goals after the interval.

Mourinho selected a number of younger players, including Nathaniel Chalobah, Marco van Ginkel, and young right-back Wallace.

Chelsea could have had an opener less than 15 minutes in after good work from Ryan Bertrand, but a Ramires header from the left-back’s cross was well saved by Kurnia Meiga.

The Indonesia goalkeeper was beaten from the spot by Hazard moments later, the Belgian making no mistake after Terry was bundled over in the box by Hamka Hamzah.

The visitors continued to enjoy the best of the play and twice hit the post through Chalobah and Wallace as Hazard dominated proceedings.

And the forward was the creator for the second goal, as his scooped cross was flicked on by Bertrand, before Ramires controlled, turned and blasted the ball into the roof of the net.

Ba added a third shortly after as Indonesia failed to clear their lines, and Chelsea went into half time four goals up after Terry thundered a header beyond Meiga from a Bertrand free-kick.

Mourinho made a number of changes at the interval as Lukaku, Michael Essien, Ashley Cole and Mark Schwarzer among others all came on.

And it was another second half substitute in impressive starlet Traore who scored the fifth, driving the ball home from distance following a combination with Branislav Ivanovic.

Lukaku made it six with a header after yet more excellent work from Hazard, and Ramires had his second – and Chelsea’s seventh – with another emphatic strike into the bottom right corner of Meiga’s goal.

Ramires, Van Ginkel, and the exceptional Hazard made way after an hour with Islam Feruz, Josh McEachran and Lucas Piazon all introduced.

But the goals kept coming as Piazon combined with Lukaku for the Belgian to side-foot the ball beyond Meiga.

The hosts, however, bagged a small consolation as Greg Nwokolo’s cut-back was turned into the Chelsea goal by Blues centre-back Tomas Kalas.

    Ozil reveals new Madrid tactics

    299464_heroa.jpg

Mesut Ozil has revealed the tactics Real Madrid will be focused on under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Jose Mourinho crafted a team that was destructive on the counterattack and clinical with possession, but the German midfielder - who wants to play in the centre of the pitch this season for the Blancos - has explained that the incoming boss is keen to see his side more comfortable with ball retention.

"The right wing is not my favourite position, I prefer to play in the hole," Ozil, 24, told reporters at a press conference to unveil the new Madrid away kit. "However, my relationship with the coach is very good.

"We’re training well and are very happy. Ancelotti knows how he wants to play, and his ideas are clear. He also has the right players for this system.

"He wants to play differently to Mourinho and our game will be more about speed and keeping the ball."

With Gonzalo Higuain on the verge of joining Napoli, Karim Benzema believes that the likes of Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez will have their chance to shine up front this season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Morata and Jese are ready to have a great season," the French forward, 25, said. "Ancelotti is very experienced and is good for Madrid.

"[First-team coach Zinedine] Zidane gets on with everyone and gives advice, which is important here because he won everything. He’s a great example."

Morata wants to emulate his heroes by carving out a memorable career at Madrid and claims that the new boss has demanded extra effort from the club's up-and-coming players in pre-season training.

"My dream right now is to stay in the team, help out and win trophies," the 20-year-old said. "[Emilio] Butragueno, [Miguel] Pardeza and Raul all came up through the ranks and I want to follow in their footsteps.

"Ancelotti asks us young players to work harder than the rest. I don’t want to take anyone’s place away from them, I just want to learn and take on board the advice I receive.

"I’m ready to play, I’m not 17 and they can rely on me. The other lads know how hard I train and after the summer I’m even more confident."

    AVB: Bale contract talks 'ongoing'

    soc_g_bale_576.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the club are in talks with Gareth Bale and his agent about a new deal.
Bale’s future has been the subject of increasing speculation this summer, with Real Madrid courting him and Manchester United also reportedly weighing up a bid, but Villas-Boas reiterated his belief that the winger would stay at White Hart Lane. .
The Spurs boss said White Hart Lane officials were in talks about improving the current terms on the PFA Player of the Year’s contract, which he signed last summer.

"There were contacts last year between the club and his agent," Villas-Boas told a press conference on the club’s pre-season tour. "And there are still ongoing contacts between club and agent."The player renewed his contract last year by the beginning of the season, if you remember, and it's something that is being dealt with by the chairman and with the agent. Talks are ongoing, but that doesn't mean there is an agreement."

When asked whether he was confident that agreement would be reached, Villas-Boas said: "At the moment, we are confident. The player is under contract, a good contract at Tottenham.

"It's something we are speaking about, but we don't have any further developments."Despite Villas-Boas' latest interjection, Spanish newspaper Marca continues to speculate about Bale's potential move to Real Madrid, claiming on Friday that a €60 million had been tabled by Los Blancos.

The Madrid-based sports daily has long been noted for its close links with Real and these latest reports are accompanied by comments that Marca claims were made by Bale in a recent meeting with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, in which he reportedly stated his desire to move to the Bernabeu. Meanwhile, Villas-Boas said Spurs are still interested in signing Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, despite director of football Franco Baldini having so far failed to agree a fee with the Spanish club.

"There is interest in the player, no matter what happened in the last couple of days," the Spurs boss said. "He is a quality player, and he has done well at Valencia for the last few seasons."He has had a good education from the Real Madrid school and he is a player we are interested in adding."

Soldado, who joined Valencia from Getafe in 2010, scored 24 goals in the Primera Division last season.

Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City's summer spending is not over

    Manuel-Pellegrini_2971457.jpg

City have been among the most active Premier League clubs in the transfer market this summer after missing out on the title last season and losing to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup Final.Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic have all been signed by City since Pellegrini replaced Roberto Mancini as coach at the Etihad Stadium.

However, despite having already spent over £80million on new signings, Pellegrini is not ruling out further additions before the transfer window closes."The club has spent money on important players, like Stevan and Negredo," said Pellegrini.

"But we must remind you that last year there was Balotelli and Tevez, so we had to replace two very good players with another two very good players."So, we have the month of July and some days of August to finish the squad completely. It's not absolutely complete, but it's very near to being complete."Pellegrini has been linked with a £20million offer for Pepe, but the City boss does not want to talk about specific transfer targets.

He added at a press conference in Hong Kong where City are competing in the Barclays Asia Trophy: "I don't speak about rumours. I think today we have the players we need here.

"I just said that we will see what happens in this month and during August.
"I'm not talking about specific names because it's not better for us, so I don't talk about Pepe or any other names."
