    Arsenal make Demba Ba enquiry

    272091_heroa.jpg

Arsenal have made an enquiry to sign Demba Ba on loan from Chelsea.

The Gunners have been in contact with the Blues about taking the Senegal striker for the rest of the season. But they face competition from Roma for Ba, who has found himself out of favour under new manager Jose Mourinho.

The forward has not even made the bench for Chelsea's last two fixtures despite being fully fit, and slipped even further down the pecking order when the Blues signed Samuel Eto'o last week. With Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku also at Stamford Bridge, Ba is unlikely to feature much this season.

Chelsea can trim their wage bill by loaning out the forward but might prefer him to go overseas rather than to a direct Premier League rival.Arsenal had an interest in signing Ba permanently in January when he was at Newcastle United but were concerned about his history of knee trouble.

Arsene Wenger wants proven back-up for Olivier Giroud, who has begun the season in outstanding form.

The Arsenal manager has failed in a series of bids to land a new forward on a permanent deal this summer and has now adjusted his sights to a loan deal.
As revealed by Goal, Arsenal are also closing in on the signings of Mesut Ozil and goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

The Gunners are in advanced talks with Real Madrid to buy Ozil for €47 million and have agreed a loan deal with Palermo for Viviano, who arrived in London on Sunday night to put the finishing touches to his move.

Galliani: Kaka needs to agree Milan switch now

    311059_heroa.jpg

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says that Real Madrid misfit Kaka needs to agree a switch to San Siro on Sunday for the transfer to come through.

The Brazilian moved to the Bernabeu from the Rossoneri in 2009 but struggled to make an impression during his four years in Spain.

He confirmed that he wants to leave the club earlier this week, with Galliani now in Madrid to thrash out a deal with the player.

"The arrival is difficult," he told reporters.

"I'm here. It's tough, we'll see. He has to say yes tonight because he'd need to be back in Milan tomorrow for a medical."

Kaka represented Milan for six years, winning the 2007 Champions League with the club and claiming the Ballon d'Or that year.

    Manchester City confirm Demichelis signing

    310269_heroa.jpg

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis on a two-year deal.

Goal reported on Tuesday that City had agreed a £4 million deal with Atleti for the former Argentina centre-back, while Manuel Pellegrini admitted on Saturday that he expected "progress" on the deal over the weekend.

The Etihad Stadium outfit have now confirmed the capture of the 32-year-old, who worked with Pellegrini at Malaga last season and at River Plate in 2002-03.

"I am delighted to have joined City because I am still hungry for success and want to improve," Demichelis told the club's official website.

"I have been in Europe for 11 years now and this was a great chance for me to play in the Premier League with such a big club."When there is a change, there is always a process. There’s always a period of adjustment you have to go through. Moving from South America to Europe is a big change and you need some time to settle in because everything is new.

"But in my case, I have lived in Europe for many years and I don’t think there’ll be any problems in adjusting to life here. Now I want to repay the manager's faith in me out on the pitch. I can't wait to get started."

City moved to sign the Argentine following injury to Vincent Kompany, though Matija Nastasic returned from the sidelines for Saturday's 2-0 victory over Hull City Tigers.

Prandelli names six strikers for qualifiers

    292358_heroa.jpg

Cesare Prandelli has named six forwards in the Italy squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Bulgaria and Czech Republic.

Strikers Mario Balotelli and Southampton new boy Pablo Osvaldo are both suspended for the first match against Bulgaria but the Azzurri coach has decided to include the pair in his side, along with Riccardo Montolivo, who will also miss the match in Palermo.

The 21-year-old Manolo Gabbiadini earns his first call up since making his debut last year against England in Bern, while there is also a return to the squad for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta, who has not pulled on the blue jersey since Italy’s Euro 2012 final defeat to Spain.

At the back, Prandelli has named three defenders from Antonio Conte’s Juventus side, including Andrea Barzagli, despite questions over his recent form.

The Euro 2012 finalists currently four points clear at the top of Group B and will take on Bulgaria in Palermo on September 6 before playing at Juventus Stadium for the first time when they take on Czech Republic four days later.

:sorry::angry:Manchester United boss David Moyes says signings not needed after Liverpool loss

    Liverpool-v-Manchester-United-David-Moyes_2996734.jpg

David Moyes felt there were enough positives in Manchester United's performance against Liverpool for him not to be too worried if they fail to make any signings on deadline day.United suffered a 1-0 defeat at Anfield as Daniel Sturridge's early goal proved to be the difference between the sides.

Despite losing his unbeaten record as United manager, Moyes insisted after the final whistle that it was the best he had seen his side play since taking charge.

And while he will attempt to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut on Monday, Moyes is happy with the options already at his disposal."I thought we played really well," Moyes told Sky Sports."Liverpool were resolute and made it hard for us to score. We maybe didn't quite create the best with the crossing. We got two or three opportunities in the second half and were just a little bit unfortunate that we didn't take them."

The transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday and Moyes added: "We will try and do it, but from what I saw of the players, I'm more than happy with the players I've got.

"I thought they played really well, probably the best we've played this season."
Phil Jones had to be replaced in the first half at Liverpool after landing awkwardly, but the extent of the damage has yet to be confirmed.Moyes said: "He went over on his ankle when he fell and we will assess how bad it is."
