On the whole a comfortable win by Madrid !!

    Points to be noticed !!
#1 It is a clean sheet.
#2 An improved team work and tactics today.
#3 Iker was almost a dead man upto 89th minute, then he was involved in some action.
#4 Khedira and Benzema seriously need to be rested.
#5 Marcelo and Varane are back bitches!!!
#6 Whenever Iker plays our Defense becomes stronger as he anticipates the ball really well and control the defenders which we cannot see in Lopez!!

    Villas-Boas blasts FA over Torres

    322413_heroa.jpg

Andre Villas-Boas has labelled the Football Association's decision to not suspend Fernando Torres for scratching Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen a joke and a farce.

The Spain international was handed a one-game ban for being sent off in Chelsea's 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane on Saturday, but he avoided further punishment after he raked his fingers down the face of the Belgian defender in an incident off the ball.

"It’s extremely difficult to know where to start. Obviously, it's almost a farcical decision. It doesn’t matter to me which player or club is involved," Villas-Boas told reporters.

"Neither do I want to with my words put into question Fernando’s integrity; neither their manager’s in trying to defend our position. I think the FA has made a decision that's almost a joke. It looks incredible.

"How can you see the images and come out without punishment on something that overtakes all professional behaviour?"

Villas-Boas believes that the lack of punishment handed to Torres sets a poor precedent when dealing with similar incidents and says the striker's actions should not be tolerated.

"I think the decision is a disgrace," he said.

"If the committee can’t solve such clear images I don’t think it sets a good first example.

"We’re not asking nobody to retract themselves; the player to retract themselves. That would not be fair.

"This is a competition and in the end they came up with what they thought was fair for that.

"We don’t want Fernando suspended because it can make them weaker because their bench is so strong, whoever comes in for them makes them even stronger, but I think the FA has lost the opportunity to put some sense into the images everybody saw.

"I’m grateful for ex-refs to be able to enlighten people a little bit more, though I think most of you guys saw the incident as something that is not tolerable in football."

Arsenal competition will bring out the best in me, says Wilshere

    312772_heroa.jpg

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists he is not worried by the increase in competition for a place in Arsene Wenger's starting XI and believes it can aid his own development.

The 21-year-old established himself in the Arsenal first team earlier in his career despite the presence of players such as Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song, and says that renewed strength in depth can help the Gunners challenge across multiple competitions.

“When I broke into the team, the situation was similar," he told the Evening Standard. "There were players like Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song and Abou Diaby at the club but this will bring out the best in me and it will bring the best out of the other players as well.

“We still have Santi Cazorla to come back from injury and if we can keep everyone fit, we are going to be real contenders in all four competitions.

“We have not really had this competition for places over the last few years, so we are all excited and we just have to keep it up now."

Wilshere played down fears that he had been left on the bench in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Napoli due to injury, and says the return of Tomas Rosicky has provided Wenger with multiple options to choose from.

"Why was I on the bench? It was just a formation thing because I am feeling fine," he continued.

"Tomas Rosicky is coming back from injury and needed a game. I have played a lot of games recently so I was just happy to get on and help at the end.”

Sir Alex Ferguson retirement stalled Januzaj contract negotiations

    303750_heroa.jpg

he agent of Manchester United winger Adnan Janusaj has revealed that talks over a new deal broke down following former boss Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

The 18-year-old has impressed for the Red Devils this season, making two Premier League appearances, but his current contract with the Old Trafford outfit expires in 2015.

After initial talks stalled falling the legendary Scot's departure, Januzaj's representative, Dirk de Vriese, is keen to re-open negotiations, though says there are a number of clubs interested on acquiring his services.

"I’m not going to say which teams are interested in him, but I can tell you that there is interest from several European clubs," De Vriese is quoted as saying in an interview with Voetbal News.

"The departure of Sir Alex Ferguson meant that there was a break in the negotiations. We are back working on the calls and will see how it goes. "Adnan’s family have given me the permission to communicate. As it is only me involved, there can be no misunderstandings in the media."

Januzaj is eligible to play for four different countries, including Belgium, Turkey and Serbia, and De Vriese says the youngster will weigh up his options before electing to decide on the nation he will reprsent.

"Januzaj’s father has always been clear about his future as an international. He must have a starting spot somewhere and then he can decide from there," De Vriese added.

"There have already been sent many e-mails and faxes from the respective bodies to inquire about his future. In Albania there are even entire television shows about him that have been organised to convince him to choose their national team."

    Gervinho: Roma can topple Juventus

    323884_heroa.jpg

Roma forward Gervinho believes his side are capable of winning Serie A this season on the back of their bright start to the campaign.

The Giallorossi have won all six of their league games so far, conceding just once, and the in-form Ivorian is very positive about their hopes for the season.

"We can win the Scudetto," the 26-year-old told Corriere dello Sport.

"The team is playing very well, and we are compact and determined. We have set ourselves the objective of winning Serie A and we won't be satisfied until we achieve that."

The 26-year-old had a disappointing spell at Arsenal prior to his move to Italy, but says he couldn't be happier with how things are going at his new club.

"I knew exactly what I was looking for when I joined Roma: the chance to play more, a coach who showed faith in me and a club with high ambitions," he continued.

"It is a fun place full of lots of jokes, but there is also a great passion and spirit within the squad, both on and off the field."

The Cote d'Ivoire international also spoke of his delight at playing alongside Roma legend Francesco Totti.

"I never imagined I would be playing alongside [Francesco] Totti.

"It is a pleasure to be in the same side as him, and he has already assisted two or three of my goals."

Suarez return key to Liverpool success, says Lucas

    321428_heroa.jpg

Lucas Leiva believes Luis Suarez's involvement in the Liverpool side can be the catalyst for success this season, hailing the striker as "one of the best in the world".

The Uruguayan scored twice on his return to Premier League action against Sunderland on Sunday as the Reds moved up to second in the table following a 3-1 win.

And Lucas believes the striker gives the whole squad belief as they look to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2009.

"Luis was the best player in the Premier League last year, so having him in our side again this season is just a real boost for all the team and the squad," Lucas told the club's official website.

"He's really happy to be back. He's always been training with us, but now he's available to help us in the official games, it will be much better.

"We just hope he can have the same season that he had last year because he was a really important player for us. If he does the same as last season, we will have a better chance to achieve what we want to achieve.

"He's just given us more confidence. The squad that we had without him was a good one, but with him back in it, we'll be even better. He's one of the best in the world."

Suarez made no secret of his desire to leave Liverpool during the summer, but Lucas has dismissed suggestions of animosity amongst the squad and is certain the striker will give his all for the club.

He said: "The fans know Suarez very well. He's been here for two or three years and we all know how he is. He's a fighter and he will do everything he can to help the team, just as he did last year and the season before.

"That's what everyone expects from him and I don't think he's thinking any other way. He just wants to play his game and score goal and help his team-mates because he has a really good relationship with everyone here at Melwood."

Juventus 2-2 Galatasaray: Last gasp Bulut strike leaves Bianconeri searching for first Champions League win

    324080hp2.jpg

Roberto Mancini enjoyed an impressive start to his Galatasaray career thanks to a 2-2 draw away to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League.

Didier Drogba put Galatasaray in front before late goals from Arturo Vidal and Fabio Quagliarella looked to have given Juventus all three points.

Umut Bulut's dramatic leveller, though, ensured that Mancini's tenure began with an encouraging performance and result in Turin.

Antonio Conte made the surprising decision to leave Fernando Llorente on the bench as Stephan Lichtsteiner, Andrea Pirlo and Mirko Vucinic all came into the starting XI.

Mancini was in the dugout against his boyhood club after joining Turkish giants Galatasaray on a three-year deal on Monday. The former Manchester City boss wasted no time in making changes, with six players coming into the first team, including Albert Riera and Felipe Melo.

Mancini went with a five-man midfield after Galatasaray lost 6-1 to Real Madrid in their first Group B match and it was causing plenty of problems for Juventus, who had to use the long ball to try and break through the organised visitors' defence.

Drogba gave the visitors the lead in the 36th minute when a poor back pass from Leonardo Bonucci left Gianluigi Buffon stranded and the former Chelsea striker nipped in to place the ball into the back of an empty net.

On the stroke of half-time, Quagliarella could have scored when he found space at the near post but Fernando Muslera was alert to thwart the danger.

Juventus continued to struggle in the second half and Conte introduced Llorente as he looked to find a way back into the game.

Conte's men got their reward in the 78th minute when Quagliarella was brought down by Nordin Amrabat and Vidal coolly stepped up before smashing the resulting penalty into the top corner to give Muslera no chance.

Galatasaray lost their momentum and the home side capitalised when Quagliarella got on the end of a perfectly-weighted Pirlo cross to head home in the 87th minute.

With the home crowd still celebrating Quagliarella's goal, Galatasaray struck back immediately and pulled a goal back from the kick off.

Drogba's flick on was met by Bulut who got enough power on his shot to guide it past Buffon in the Juventus goal.

Carlos Tevez and Llorente went close late on for the Serie A champions, but they failed to deny Mancini a dream start.

CSKA Moscow 3-2 Viktoria Plzen: Hosts triumph in five-goal thriller

    324043hp2.jpg

CSKA Moscow ran out 3-2 winners in their Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen thanks to strikes from Zoran Tosic, Keisuke Honda and a Radim Reznik own goal from a goalkeeping howler.

Plzen created a number of chances as they looked to claim the spoils in the first competitive meeting between the two sides, but it was CSKA who secured all three points.Tosic and Honda both netted and an own goal from Reznik allowed CSKA to establish a 3-1 lead before Bakos pulled one back late on.

Ahmed Musa also struck the post as CSKA produced a vibrant display to suggest that they have an outside chance of progressing from a group that contains Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

CSKA - missing the likes of Alan Dzagoev and Seydou Doumbia through injury - made two changes to the side defeated 2-0 by Terek Grozny in domestic competition last Saturday, Georgi Schennikov replacing Vasili Berezutski in defence, while Rasmus Elm took the place of Georgi Milanov in the midfield.
Visiting coach Pavel Vrba also elected to rotate his squad, with Jan Kovarik, Daniel Kolar and Bakos all coming into the side.

Plzen took the lead with the first real chance of the game after four minutes, Rajtoral slotting home at the far post after Milan Petrzela's effort had been deflected into his path by Sergei Ignashevich.

The Czech side came close to doubling their advantage on 14 minutes when attacking midfielder Kolar headed wide after CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev had made the ill-advised decision to come out and try and claim a high ball into the box.

Some heroic defending from Pontus Wernbloom denied Vrba's men the chance to extend their advantage. The CSKA midfielder cleared Bakos' shot off the line at the end of a superb counter-attack from Plzen.

CSKA appeared to gain confidence following that let-off and duly equalised as Tosic's deflected strike squirmed past Matus Kozacik after the winger had collected Musa's square pass. The hosts began to dictate play following their leveller, with Honda looking dangerous as the Russian side began to pick apart the Plzen defence.

And it was Honda who put CSKA ahead just before the half-hour mark, the Japan international lofting a composed finish over Kozacik after being played through by Tosic. Both sides traded chances in the closing stages of the first half as Steven Zuber twice went close for CSKA before Rajtoral tested Akinfeev in injury-time.

CSKA almost killed the game off four minutes into the second half when Musa struck the woodwork after latching on to Kirill Nababkin's near-post cross.
Plzen remained a dangerous attacking threat, though, and they were denied by a goal-line clearance for the second time as Honda showed great awareness to prevent Kolar from finding the net.

The visitors were made to pay for their profligacy 12 minutes from time as defender Reznik's attempted backpass went under Kozacik's foot and into the net.
Bakos pulled one back with a close-range header, but it came too late for Plzen to mount a comeback.

Real Madrid 4-0 Copenhagen: Ronaldo & Di Maria doubles seal simple win

    324102hp2.jpg

Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria each scored twice to give Real Madrid a 4-0 win at home to Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Copenhagen have endured a disastrous start to their domestic season and never looked like picking up only their second ever away win in the Champions League as Ronaldo opened the scoring after 21 minutes at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The Portugal star - who scored a hat-trick at Galatasaray on matchday one - added another in the second half after a magnificent piece of skill from Angel Di Maria.

And Argentine winger Di Maria rounded off the win with a double of his own in the final 20 minutes to put Real in firm control of Group B with six points from two games.

The Spanish giants suffered a La Liga derby defeat to Atletico Madrid for the first time since 1999 last Saturday and manager Carlo Ancelotti responded by making five changes.

Fabio Coentrao, Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Arbeloa, Isco and Diego Lopez dropped to the bench as Marcelo, Dani Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Luka Modric and Iker Casillas started, with the latter making his 129th Champions League appearance.

Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken made three alterations from their own weekend defeat to Brondby, with Ragnar Sigurdsson, Rurik Gislason and Youssef Toutouh replacing Georg Margreitter, Cristian Bolanos and Fanendo Adi.

The visitors did a good job of keeping Real at bay in the opening stages, but Real eventually made the breakthrough in the 21st minute.

Marcelo’s deep cross evaded goalkeeper Johan Wiland, giving Ronaldo an easy headed finish at the back post for his first of the game.Di Maria then wasted two great chances to double the lead and Copenhagen almost capitalised on the hosts’ profligacy.

Four minutes before the break Casillas failed to catch a corner, allowing Nicolai Jorgensen to head goalwards, but luckily for Real the ball hit the crossbar before dropping to Modric who cleared.

Ronaldo went close to getting his second in the 64th minute when his curling free-kick from the edge of the area landed on top of the net, but he was not to be denied a minute later.

Di Maria got to the byline to produce a cross with an outrageous piece of skill, and Ronaldo burst in front of his marker to head home again.

And with 19 minutes to play, Di Maria made amends for his first-half misses with a wonderful finish as he cut in from the right and hammered a shot past the helpless Wiland.Real saw out the final stages with consumate ease and then scored a fourth for good measure.

Di Maria pounced on a loose ball, held off his marker before smashing a low effort into the bottom corner from just inside the area, rounding off an eye-catching display from Ancelotti's men.

:(Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1: Moyes denied morale-boosting win by Taison

    article-2442023-18792D2200000578-464_634x432.jpg

Manchester United were denied their second Champions League win as many games by a second-half equaliser from Taison at Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.

Ryan Giggs made history by breaking the Uefa Champions League appearance record after coming on to replace Marouane Fellaini.

But Danny Welbeck was the initial hero as he gave United the lead in the 18th minute before Taison equalised with 14 minutes remaining - but the game was more notable for Giggs' landmark appearance.

The Welshman replaced Fellaini in the 66th minute to take him to 145 appearances in the competition, one more than Raul.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu made two changes from Saturday's 2-2 draw with Metalurh Donetsk, Olexandr Kucher and Luiz Adriano coming in for Sergey Krivtsov and Facundo Ferreyra.

Lucescu had stated before the game that he felt David Moyes was struggling because he had not yet found his best starting XI and, again, the United manager made wholesale changes from the home defeat against West Brom at the weekend.

Only goalkeeper David de Gea and Michael Carrick kept their place from Saturday, with Wayne Rooney missing out altogether with a shin injury picked up in training the day before.

After a quiet opening, Robin van Persie had the first sight of goal in the eighth minute, bringing down Tom Cleverley's pass before firing high and wide from 20 yards.

There was little further goalmouth action until the visitors took the lead in the 18th minute when Fellaini drove to the byline before cutting the ball back in search of Welbeck.

Yaroslav Rakitskiy was in position to intercept a pass but the defender slipped as he stuck out a leg, allowing the ball to run for Welbeck to sweep beyond Andriy Pyatov from six yards.

The home side were struggling to create anything going forward and did not manage an effort on target until the 39th minute when Alex Teixeira's weak shot from the edge of the box was straight at De Gea.

The second half followed a similar pattern to that of the first, Rakitskiy's wayward free-kick from 35 yards in the 50th minute representing Shakhtar's only notable effort of the opening exchanges.

Van Persie had a rare sight of goal in the 71st minute, turning on the ball inside the area before seeing his low effort blocked by the covering Rakitskiy.

But five minutes later, the hosts equalised out of nothing.

Rakitskiy broke down the left and although Nemanja Vidic intercepted his cut back, the ball fell perfectly for Taison to smash the ball beyond De Gea from 10 yards.

And Taison then came close to a winner five minutes from time as his deflected drive was tipped over brilliantly by the alert De Gea at his near post.

The result sees both teams move to four points from two games in Group A, although Moyes may be disappointed that his side could not see out a game in which they held the lead.

Manchester City 1-3 Bayern Munich: Robben & Ribery combine to crush Pellegrini’s men

    324141hp2.jpg

Manchester City fell to a 3-1 defeat to European champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Bayern's win was their club-record seventh Champions League victory in a row and it was Franck Ribery who put the reigning champions ahead seven minutes in before Thomas Muller made it two after the interval.

A first defeat at home for Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini was confirmed when the impressive Arjen Robben got in on the act just before the hour mark, with Alvaro Negredo grabbing the hosts' consolation late on prior to a red card for Jerome Boateng.

Micah Richards started for the first time under Pellegrini, while the Chilean was also able to name Sergio Aguero in his starting XI after the Argentina international missed Saturday's Premier League defeat to Aston Villa. David Silva was among the substitutes following his recovery from a thigh injury.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola opted to play Thomas Muller in an advanced role, replacing Mario Mandzukic, while Mario Gotze was named on the bench once more as he continues his return to full fitness following the ankle injury that he sustained during the Super Cup win over Chelsea.

David Alaba also made his 25th appearance in the Champions League, more than any other Austrian player in the competition's history.

Ribery caught City cold early on in the Group D clash as he edged the visitors ahead with a stunning long-range strike. The France international cut in from the left wing to beat Joe Hart at his near post and set the tone at the Etihad Stadium.

Toni Kroos then saw an effort deflected just wide 13 minutes later as Bayern continued to control proceedings.

Robben went close on the half-hour mark as he comfortably went past Matija Nastasic and fired across goal, though Muller was unable to get a touch and divert it home.

Bayern enjoyed 67 per cent possession in the first half but it was the home side who began brighter after the interval, keeping the ball well without endangering Manuel Neuer's goal.

But Robben threatened again eight minutes into the half, with the Dutchman's effort from outside the area deflecting just wide of Hart's right-hand post.

And Muller doubled Bayern's lead five minutes short of the hour mark after evading Gael Clichy and calmly controlling a long ball from Dante.

With Hart looming, the Germany international rounded the City goalkeeper and tapped home to double the visitors' lead.

Sensationally, Bayern were three ahead within the hour as Robben capped a fine display with a deserved goal.

After a quick counter, Robben twisted Nastasic inside out before firing past Hart at his near post to put the Bundesliga champions out of sight.

Substitute Negredo pulled a goal back for the home side after being introduced for Edin Dzeko, however, the close-season signing turning neatly inside the area before curling an effort past Neuer.

Amd Boateng saw red for a foul on Yaya Toure four minutes from time, with substitute Silva striking the crossbar from the subsequent free-kick. It mattered little, however.

Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Benfica: Ibra leads walk in the Parc

    324131hp2.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain's perfect start to the Champions League campaign continued as they swept aside Benfica 3-0 courtesy of a fine first-half performance in which they scored all their goals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic completed a flowing move early on to give the Parisians the lead before having a hand in assisting Marquinhos' effort, which followed shortly after. Before half an hour was played the points were secured as the former AC Milan striker found the net once more.

Both sides headed into the game following convincing wins in their opening games against Olympiakos and Anderlecht, but it was the Ligue 1 champions who controlled this clash from start to finish.

Laurent Blanc made four changes to the PSG side that beat Toulouse 2-0 on Saturday, with Alex replacing Zoumana Camara in defence, while Blaise Matuidi, Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi came in for Adrien Rabiot, Jeremy Menez and Lucas Moura.

Nicolas Gaitan and Filip Duricic returned to the Benfica team after being left out of the starting line-up for their 1-1 draw with Belenenses.

It did not take long for PSG to take the lead, as Ibrahimovic opened the scoring after just five minutes. The Swedish striker met Gregory van der Wiel's right-wing cross to tap in to an empty net following an excellent through ball from Matuidi.

Blanc's men continued to dictate the play after breaking the deadlock as they starved Benfica of possession.

Matuidi saw an effort well saved Artur before Ibrahimovic almost forced an opening, but the hosts were eventually rewarded for their dominance with a superb second goal on 25 minutes.

Ibrahimovic was once again heavily involved as the former Barcelona and Milan man skilfully combined with Marco Verratti, who in turn played in Matuidi who pulled back for Marquinhos to find the net from point-blank range.

And the game was all but ended as a contest on the half-hour mark when Ibrahimovic headed Thiago Motta's pinpoint corner past a despairing Artur for his second of the game.

Benfica made one change at the interval as Lazar Markovic replaced Duricic but, although Ezequiel Garay tested Salvatore Sirigu in the early stages of the second half, they struggled to break down the hosts' organised defence.

The chances continued to flow as Miralem Sulejmani drew another save from Sirigu, before Ibrahimovic spurned a chance for a hat-trick, firing over after Artur could only parry substitute Adrien Rabiot's effort.

PSG still attacked as they looked to put the gloss on a wonderful display, with Cavani denied by a superb double save from Artur 16 minutes from time, but by that point the result had long been settled as PSG moved clear at the top of their pool.
