Avoid Kapruka

You may have seen a little while ago that I was suggesting places where to get Marmite around the World, and one of the places was Kapruka, a company that does online Sri Lankan goods for customers in Canada, UK and US.


I seriously suggest that if you are after the Sri Lankan jars, you DO NOT go to this store.

I ordered 2 jars of Marmite (Sri Lankan 115g and 230g jars, as you can see in the order information above) the beginning of December. I wasn't expecting anything until the New Year, and on 30th December I got an email saying my item had been dispatched. I was pretty happy with this, and awaited my parcel.

A few days later I was given a jiffy bag...and here were the contents...

As you can see, these are UK Marmite jars, a 125g and 250g. There was no invoice or any paperwork that went with it, and this is extremely poor packaging. I initially thought this was down to a Marmite campaign of sorts, and spoke about it on the Facebook pages, but it seemed that nobody knew about this. I then spoke to a fellow Marmarati member who had also ordered from Kapruka, and they had received the same type of parcel.

I had emailed them asking if it was Sri Lankan Marmite they sold and not UK, and the email I got back said the following:

Dear Mr Saire May

Thank you for contacting Kapruka Customer care.

All our products are made in Sri Lanka. The Marmite sold online is directly exported to UK from Sri Lanka.

If you have any other questions or if we may be of further assistance please let us know.

So, that would mean that it was the boxed Sri Lankan jars they were selling...although in the New Year I noticed they had altered the details on their site to make the sizes of the jars UK versions, but the images are still of the Sri Lankan boxes.

So, shoddy packaging, no invoice, and items that are not as described. You'd think that a company that did something like that would want to rectify the situation, right?

Wrong.

I have emailed them on more than one occasion, and they have not replied to anything as yet. the really REALLY frustrating part about this is the fellow Marmarati member got a refund...so why are they ignoring me.

Well, I advise you do not purchase any items from this company, and would request you let others know how bad the customer services are and suggest they not use this company and avoid getting duped.

One of my friends has ordered a Birthday cake from them. He wanted to make it as a surprise. But these idiots have delivered it after the exact date and the cake was totally melted down. Last Thursday I've received SMS saying my item available to pick. So i contacted them and asked about it. Then they said "will look inventory and let me know". But still didn't get any reply.

This is the worst company in Sri Lanka iv'e ever deal with. All they did was lying.

I asked from your Boss directly. He said will check and get back to me on Monday. Now Monday gone right ? Does it take four days to check the inventory ? Is it fun for you guys to keep people wait ?

Anyway i'm not waiting for the item now. Still didn't decide whether i'm buying it or not. Let me know the final value of it if you can
