I never ment that we should stop free education.
Primary and secondary education is perfect.
I just wanted to tell that, opportunities for tertiary education, is not adequate for the country.

We don't have the right to go for tertiary education.
The A/L candidates who miss the university by few marks, have more than enough brain to become a graduate.
But, they dont have the right to go for tertiary education.
But the multi milliners sons and daughters can.

I'm not going to tell that, what is said is correct or wrong.
I'm just posting as it is related to the topic we were discussing.
Anyway, what everybody agreed is correct I guess.
Nothing wrong in free education. Primary and secondary education are perfect.
Even some of the so called developed countries have not achieved that standard
in primary and secondary education.
As almost everybody agreed, opportunities for tertiary education were sub optimal.
Did I get that correct

But unfortunately many people in our country can't understand this truth.
That is hard coded with their attitudes. They always like to be in minority group which can have most of the benefits and they think they should be treated as gods by other party.

ex:-Majority of Hi class people don't like and don't help to mid class person to have better life.

Majority of People who has done their degrees with gov Unis don't like people who has done their degrees with Pvt Unis.

So if some one can change these bad attitudes then we will be able to build a successful country.

I might be wrong but this is my point of view about this.

Thanks brother.
We too got through free education.
We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to get tertiary education.
What I too wanted to say was, we should make more opportunities
for our younger generation.

I'll just tell you a story, just for you to get an idea.
A known person (a nurse from SL), got green card and migrated to US.
Now she is having a good life there. She is at the moment doing a nursing phD as well.
But, Re : nurses in our country (they are also our own brothers and sisters), have no
opportunity for further education.
Situation is similar for other fields as well.
Either they do not have the opportunity for post grads, or they are not benefited
by achieving a Masters/ Doctorate.

I was talking about post grads.
But, before that we have to get the situation corrected for undergraduates.

I found another funny example.
As far as my knowledge is concerned, the establishment code (e code) says,
no one's salary scale should go down, as they have achieved extra/ new qualifications.
But I know 1-2 teachers who stay in the post/ grade of a teacher, even after
passing the exam for being a principal.
(I was said that the salary of a principal is lower than some grades of teachers)
As this is a second hand information, I'm not 100% percent sure about the fact.
But, it can be true and I too have to find out.

What I wanted to say was, we should make a structure, where people
get more benefited by achieving higher standards of post grad educations.
(eg. masters/ phDs etc)

මේක තමයි විසදුම කියල බලු බැල්මට පේනවා. දුප්පත් ටිකදෙනෙක් government universities වල යන්න පුළුවන්. ලංකාවේ private universities/colleges සල්ලි තියෙන අය අද්‍යාපනය ලබාගන්නවා.
නමුත් අනිත් බහුතර කට්ටිය? ලංකාවේ බහුතරයක් දෙමව්පියන්ට ලක්ෂ ගනම් දීල තමුන්ගේ ළමයින්ට අද්‍යාපනය දෙන්න බැහැ.
පිටරටවල තත්වය වෙනස්. මෙහෙ ආණ්ඩුවෙන් ණය දෙනවා ළමයින්ට ඉගෙනගන්න. සමහර රටවල ළමයින්ට පුළුවන් වැඩ කරලා tuition fee ගෙවන්න. එතකොට ඕන කෙනෙකුට කැමති විදියට ඉගන ගන්න පුළුවන්.
