:('Hummels to Manchester United for €20m? Forget it' - Klopp

    342759_heroa.jpg

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed speculation that defender Mats Hummels could join Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils had been linked with a €20 million move for the Germany international, with Louis van Gaal keen to rebuild a central defence that lost Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the off-season.

But Klopp has laughed off suggestions that he could lose the World Cup winner, as well as attacker Marco Reus, who has been linked with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

"I can assure you that there are no signs that one of them wants to leave us," the BVB boss told Ruhr Nachrichten.

"Mats joining Manchester United? For €20 million? For such little money you can forget that immediately!"

Van Gaal included Hummels on his six-man shortlist for summer targets before officially taking the role last week.

Meanwhile, United chief exectuive Ed Woodward has told fans to "watch this space" as Van Gaal looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have both already arrived at Old Trafford, while Goal understands Juventus star Arturo Vidal and Everton midfielder James McCarthy are also targets.

:cool:Official: Real Madrid sign James Rodriguez

    Colombia-v-Uruguay-James-Rodriguez_3165173.jpg

Real Madrid have announced on their official website that they have completed the transfer of James Rodriguez from Monaco for a reputed fee of €80 million.

The Liga giants had been linked with a move for the creative midfielder ever since he impressed at the World Cup and the Colombian has now signed a contract until the summer of 2020 with the Santiago Bernabeu club after passing his medical.

James started his professional career with Envigado and also wore the Banfield and Porto jerseys before joining Monaco for €45m last year.

He impressed in his first season at the Ligue 1 side, scoring nine goals in 34 league appearances to help Monaco to second place in the table and qualification for the Champions League.

The attacking midfielder was also one of the stars of the 2014 World Cup as he picked up the Golden Boot and the Goal of the Tournament award following his sublime performances for Colombia, earning himself a move to Madrid in the process.

James is the Bernabeu side's second signing of the summer transfer window after the previous capture of Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich and will be presented to the world at 20:00CET on Tuesday.

The arrival of the Colombia star likely means the end of Isco's spell at Madrid, with Liverpool and Manchester City keeping a close eye on his situation in the Spanish capital.

    Southampton looking to sell Osvaldo

    369630_heroa.jpg

Ronald Koeman has revealed that Southampton are looking to offload Pablo Osvaldo after he failed to report for pre-season training.

The Premier League club have lost patience with their record signing, who arrived at St Mary's in a €18 million move from Roma less than a year ago.Striker Osvaldo was loaned to Juventus in January and now looks set for a permanent switch following his failure to show up for training ahead of the new season.

"It was a difficult situation for him to come back to," Koeman told BBC Radio Solent.

"He was too late. The decision of the board was to allow him not to come back. We have to look for opportunities for him to play in a different team."Osvaldo scored just once in 11 Serie A appearances last term for Juventus, who were crowned champions for the third season running.

    Sammer delighted with ‘outstanding’ Lewandowski

    437586_heroa.jpg

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer was delighted to see new signing Robert Lewandowski make a goalscoring start to his career with the Bundesliga champions.

The Poland international scored against MSV Duisburg on 62 minutes in his first match for Pep Guardiola's men following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

Lewandowski was one of a few star players involved in the friendly, which ended 1-1, and Sammer was happy to see the striker test both goalkeepers used by the third-tier club, as well as get his name on the scoresheet.

"He's an outstanding player with outstanding skills," Sammer told reporters. "We'll build him up slowly. On Monday he played almost a full match.

"We've had to manage the training carefully this week because at the weekend we'll play a whole tournament.

"A lot of players are still in holiday. The players that are here cannot play every single match up to full time. We have to be careful but we also have to be at 100 per cent when the Bundesliga starts. That's quite difficult."

Lewandowski himself is looking forward to Bayern's World Cup winners returning to training so that the team can start preparing properly for the new season, in which they will hope to retain their Bundesliga title.

"On the one hand I'm happy to have scored my first goal, but on the other hand we only drawn 1-1," he added. "Matches like this are more difficult than matches with the whole team together.

"Of course it would be better having all national team players here but we'll have to wait for them, that's a normal situation for a team with so many World Cup winners.

"I'm focusing on training and when the players come back we'll start the season. When they're back it would be another type of preparation I think."

Barcelona sell Bojan to Stoke City

    431868_heroa.jpg

Stoke City have confirmed they have signed Bojan Krkic from Barcelona on a four-year deal.

The Potters have paid an undisclosed fee to acquire the 23-year-old, who becomes the club's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Mame Biram Diouf, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley and Dionatan Teixeira.

And Mark Hughes has hailed the signing of the Spaniard, telling the club's official website: "Anyone who knows European football will be aware of him as a player and the fact that he sees his future at Stoke City is really exciting and an endorsement of the club itself.

"He's desperate to prove himself in the Premier League and we're pleased to be able to offer him that platform."

Bojan scored 26 goals in over 120 appearances for Barcelona but spent last season on loan at Ajax, having fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou.

    QPR complete Caulker signing

    437631_heroa.jpg

QPR have revealed they have completed the signing of Steven Caulker in a deal believed to be worth €10 million.

Earlier on Tuesday the 22-year-old was undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Loftus Road and club chairman Tony Fernandes later confirmed the transfer has been finalised.

    BtKYGpUIYAAOXO2.jpg

Caulker was also the subject of significant interest from Southampton but has ultimately taken the opportunity to reunite with former boss Harry Redknapp and partner in defence with fellow summer signing Rio Ferdinand.

The former Tottenham youngster signed for Cardiff last summer for €10m after impressing on loan at Welsh rivals Swansea City, making 38 Premier League appearances as the Bluebirds were relegated.

On the announcement of the deal, Caulker told QPR's official website: "Harry [Redknapp] was a big factor for me, having worked with him at Tottenham.

"He was very keen for me to join and that was a big plus, knowing the manager wants you.

"Being able to play with Rio was also a big draw. He has been a role model of mine for many years, along with Ledley King. To have the opportunity to play alongside him was something I felt I couldn’t miss out on.

"Our first aim this season has to be to get to 40 points, to make sure we stay up. That’s our first goal."

Redknapp added: "Steven’s a top player, so we’re delighted to have him at QPR.
"I know the ability he has and I think it’s an important signing for the club – for the here and now, and for the future. I had him at Tottenham and I was very surprised when they decided to let him go last summer, because I thought he had a big future there.

"He’s young; he’s a good age; he’s already a fine player but he has so much more potential – it’s a really excellent signing for the club."When good players like Steven become available, who can come in and have a real impact, you’ve got to try and get them.

"I’m sure he will come in and show exactly what he’s capable of – he’s got everything to be a top, top centre-half, so I couldn’t be more pleased to have him."

Galatasaray: Sneijder valuation scared off Man Utd & Monaco

    406915_heroa.jpg

Galatasaray have scared off reported suitors Monaco and Manchester United for Wesley Sneijder, according to club president Unal Aysal.

The playmaker's coach under Netherlands at the World Cup, Louis van Gaal, has taken over at Manchester United - whom have long been linked with a move from the 30-year-old - but are rumoured to have baulked at Sneijder's €22 million release clause.

Monaco are hardly short on cash, however, and their bank accounts will be newly lined with the €80 million they received from Real Madrid for James Rodriguez on Tuesday.

But Aysal confirmed that offers have not yet been tabled for Sneijder or his Galatasaray team-mate Fernando Muslera, who was Uruguay's goalkeeper at the 2014 World Cup, this summer.

"With regards to Muslera and Sneijder we have not received an offer for either player," Aysal told reporters. "Both of these players are very important to our team and as a result we value them accordingly.

"We won't release these players for any less than our asking price and that has scared a few interested parties away.

"If a club wants either of these players they are going to have to pay up as we are obliged to listen to any offers which meet their release clause. If their release clause is activated there is nothing we can do."

New Galatasaray coach, Cesare Prandelli, stressed that Sneijder is part of his plans and says he is working towards finding the perfect balance to form a championship-winning team.

"I consider Sneijder a very important member of my team," he told reporters. "In training, all of the players are proving very helpful, which makes me very happy.

"Our goal is to build a winning team - we want to have the right balance between defence and attack, and to build a team that will do well against any opponent. I am convinced I made the right choice coming to Galatasaray."

Official: Dunga named new Brazil coach

    437589_heroa.jpg

Brazil's football federation (CBF) has confirmed the appointment of Dunga as the new Brazil coach.

The 1994 World Cup-winning captain returns for what will be his second stint in charge of the Selecao, having spent four years at the helm between 2006-2010.

He succeeds Luiz Felipe Scolari, who left the post after failing to claim Brazil's first World Cup on home soil following a humbling 7-1 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals.

At his unveiling, Dunga stressed the importance of being level-headed about the Selecao's standing in world football and insists that the national team will not stumble upon Pele-esque players often.

"The national team still represents a lot," the new Brazil boss told reporters. "And we're going to win back that pride through results, showing how much we want to do the best.

"I won't be selling a dream. I'll sell them the reality. And the reality is that we need a lot of work. We can't keep thinking that we're the best. We were the best.

"We have talent for being the best, but we need to be humble enough to understand that other teams have worked a lot to get where they are. We need to work very hard to earn the right to be amongst the best. we can't sell to the fans the illusion that things will improve overnight.

"We can't think that we're going to stumble upon a Pele all the time. We can't try to have a new idol every day. We need to put together talent and humility.

"Football is no longer a game of one or two star figures. It takes the active participation of all the players."

In Dunga's previous spell in charge of his country, he won 42 and lost just six of his 60 games, guiding them to the Copa America 2007 and Confederations Cup 2009 titles, but was criticised for his pragmatic approach.

The 50-year-old was fired from what was his first senior coaching role in 2010 after suffering a World Cup quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands.

Dunga’s only other experience in the dugout came at Brazilian club Internacional last year, but he lasted less than 12 months before being dismissed after suffering four straight league defeats.

His first Brazil squad will be announced in late August ahead of the Selecao’s Gillette Brasil Global Tour friendly fixtures with Colombia and Ecuador in the United States.

New Brazil coach Dunga vows to restore pride

    437611_heroa.jpg

New Brazil coach Dunga has vowed to restore pride to the Selecao following their 7-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Germany.

The 50-year-old’s return to the national team was confirmed by Brazil football federation (CBF) president Jose Maria Marin at a press conference on Tuesday.

Dunga, who succeeds former coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, previously led the Selecao into World Cup 2010 and says he and his new team will win back the faith of the Brazilian public through hard work and a strong team ethic.

"The national team still represents a lot," he said. "And we're going to win back that pride through results, showing how much we want to do our best.

"We already have a plan, but the media and the fans already know me. I won't be selling a dream. I'll sell them the reality. And the reality is that we need a lot of work.

"We can't keep thinking that we're the best. We were the best, we have talent to be the best, but we need to be humble enough to understand that other teams have worked very hard to get where they are today."

The 1994 World Cup-winning captain led Brazil to Copa America and Confederations Cup triumphs in a four-year coaching spell between 2006 and 2010 before leaving his post following a World Cup quarter-final defeat to Netherlands and lost just six of his 60 matches in charge.

He went on to say the collective must reign supreme over the individual if Brazil are to climb back to the top of world football.

"A goalkeeper saving a ball is also art, a centre-back recovering a ball is also art,” he said.

"We can't think that we're going to stumble upon a Pele all of the time. We can't try to have a new idol every day. Brazil have always had great players and great talent. We need to combine our talent and our humility to find a balance."

Dunga’s first squad is due to be announced next month ahead of September’s Gillette Brasil Global Tour friendlies with Colombia and Ecuador in the United States.

Robinho thanks Milan fans as exit nears

    437433_heroa.jpg

Robinho has thanked AC Milan fans for their support during his four years at the club as he nears a reported move to new MLS team Orlando City.

The Brazilian is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2016 but Orlando City - set to make their MLS debut in 2015 - have made no secret of their desire to reunite Robinho with new recruit Kaka in the United States.

They are the latest team to be linked with the 30-year-old and, though a figure with the Serie A side is yet to be agreed, the MLS club’s chief Flavio Augusta da Silva and the player's agent have talked up the move. The 30-year-old admitted that talks with Orlando City are ongoing, while he also thanked Milan fans in a comment that is set to spark talk of an imminent departure from the Italian giants.

"We do not know yet [where I will go]," Robinho, who won the Serie A title with Milan in 2010-11, told Sky Sport. "We're still deciding. We will choose the best for me and Milan, who have always treated me very well."For fans of Milan I can only say thank you for everything."

Robinho has made over 100 appearances for Milan and he has also had spells in Brazil, England and Spain with Santos, Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively.

    Barcelona convince Xavi to stay

    418752_heroa.jpg

Xavi has performed an U-turn and will stay at Barcelona next season after productive talks with coach Luis Enrique and president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Tuesday.

The veteran midfielder had in June indicated his preference to leave Camp Nou after failing to receive assurances from new boss Luis Enrique on how much playing time he would receive. But after mulling over offers from Qatari club Al-Arabi and new MLS franchise New York City, he has decided to extend his spell in Catalunya.

The news will be welcomed by club chiefs, who are keen for the 34-year-old to remain and share his extensive experience with the club’s younger players.
The situation could have been different, however, had Xavi received more attractive offers. But, having initially been intrigued by the financial rewards available in the Middle East, he cooled on the idea of moving to Qatar and instructed his agent to explore other proposals.

New York stepped forward - indeed they still have a deal on the table - but failed to convince the player it was the right move at this stage of his career.

It means Xavi is set to be a member of the Barcelona squad which attempts to reclaim the title from Atletico Madrid in 2014-15.

He will join new signing Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta as central midfield options with youngster Sergi Roberto also expected to play a more prominent role next season following the departure of Cesc Fabregas - widely touted as Xavi’s replacement when he joined from Arsenal in 2011 - to Chelsea.

Xavi has appeared in over 700 competitive matches for Barcelona and won 22 trophies with the Catalan club.

Ginter dreams of silverware this season with Dortmund

    347120_heroa.jpg

Matthias Ginter says his move to Borussia Dortmund was fuelled by his desire to win trophies and play at the highest level.

The defender moved to Dortmund from Freiburg for a reported €10 million this month and will provide competition for regular centre-backs Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic.

The 20-year-old is confident the move to Signal Iduna Park will help develop his career, accepting that he is prioritising playing at the top level over consistent competitive gametime."Sure, I could have stayed with Freiburg for another season but I want to take the next step in my career," Ginter told Bild. "Everybody wants to train and play at the highest level at Dortmund.

"With all respect to Freiburg, everything is much bigger [at Dortmund]. Dortmund can win titles and they are a strong team pushing to win the Champions League, which is why I want to play my here.

"I had very good talks with BVB's officials and, although I will not play every game, I have signed a long-term contract."

Monaco: We didn't want to sell James

    324786_heroa.jpg

Monaco CEO Vadim Vasilyev has insisted that the club had no intention of selling James Rodriguez prior to Real Madrid's reported €80 million offer.

The Ligue 1 side were unable to resist the bumper profit on the 23-year-old, who had been signed for €45 million last summer, and the transfer was completed on Tuesday.

James starred at World Cup 2014, winning the Golden Boot (top goalscorer) and Goal of the Tournament while narrowly missing out on the Golden Ball (best player) award to Argentina's Lionel Messi.

His performances as Colombia reached the quarter-final convinced European champions Real Madrid to splash the cash, but the club's vice-chairman stressed that Monaco's ambition has not wavered despite the departure setback.

"Monaco are proud to have helped James Rodriguez reveal his talent to the world as he notably made his mark on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil winning the Golden Boot," Vasilyev told the Stade Louis II side's official website.

"James is a fantastic player who achieved great things with Monaco and the club had no intention to sell the player.

"However the time came when the solution of a transfer was considered to be the most beneficial solution for all parties. Monaco are proud to be a part to one of the most significant transfers in football history.

"Monaco are a club that will continue to grow and remain focused on the future. More than ever we have the ambition to strengthen our team and continue to progress for next season."

The principality club finished second in Ligue 1 last season and will compete in the Champions League in 2014-15, albeit without Madrid-bound James.

Roma move not about money - Cole

    436642_heroa.jpg

Ashley Cole has denied moving to Roma rather than a Major League Soccer side because of the financial riches offered to him by the Serie A club.

Reports linked the ex-Chelsea full-back with a Bosman move to America but he surprised many by choosing to continue his career in Italy, signing a two-year deal in Italy.

The defender has now criticised those who claim he is motivated by money, urging fans to simply focus on their own team's affairs.

“B4 I signed at Roma people on here killing me about playing there,” the former England international wrote on Twitter, “saying it's for the money and easy life style, I choose to play in a more demanding place and team and people still feel the need to moan, how about you just worry about ur team and I'll worry about mine (sic).

"I'm talking about the MLS by the way."

Cole won the Premier League title, four FA Cups, one League Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League during his time at Chelsea.
