Measures for passengers safety by CAA

Following the incident of a Germanwings Airbus A320 co-pilot who allegedly locked the pilot out and then crashed the plane in the French Alps, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday said it will require SriLankan airlines and Mihin Air always to have two authorised crew members in the cockpit.

"When one of the pilots leave the cockpit, the pilot in charge will require a chief flight attendant to enter the cockpit and thus guarantee at all times that the door can be opened to allow entry," the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), H.M.C.Nimalsiri said.

He also said that a new set of safety standards as measures to be taken in an emergency had been included into the criteria followed by pilots and co-pilots.
Medical checkups and training programmes for the airline staff had been focused thoroughly by the CAA and through the new standards, CAA hopes to ensure the safety of airline passengers.

During the first three months of this year there have been four airline accidents around the world including TransAsia Airways flight 235 crash into a river killing 42 people, Delta Airlines flight 1086 skidding off and injuring over a dozen of people, Air Canada flight 624 hit the power lines leaving 23 people injured and the Germanwings flight 9525 crash killing 150 people on board.(Piyumi Fonseka)

Wow it will be a nice experience, though many usually sleeps nowadays through out their journey - cos they don't have much to do (of course they can do watching/listening or gaming!)
What will be the Boeings' response then??:confused:
Do not know whether passenger will have to pay for these extras separately as it will definitely need some internet connection! - or may not need internet at all I guess:rolleyes::rolleyes:
BTW, seeing you after long time in this very thread!

I don't have much time bro to visit and make comments. Sorry. :sorry:

A mobile phone video reveals the final terrifying moments of the Germanwings plane crash, it has been sensationally claimed tonight.
ParisMatch, a French magazine, and Bild, Germany's largest tabloid newspaper, say they have 'obtained' a video found among the wreckage of the disaster which killed all 150 people on board.
According to Bild, the footage is extremely blurry and no individuals can be identified, but it is being examined as a key piece of evidence by investigators.
Passenger screams can be heard, including several shouting "My God" in different languages.
And crucially, at least three "metallic" bangs are audible.
This would support reports that Captain Patrick Sondenheimer, who was locked out of the flight deck by co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, tried desperately to break in with an axe, or another heavy object, as the Airbus A320 nose-dived into the Alps.
It is believed the flight voice recorder reveals how the dad-of-two was shouting ‘open the goddamn door’ as he tried to force his way in.

    10:00am
    The airplane takes off.

    10:10am
The Captain says to Lubitz: “I didn’t have time to use the bathroom before taking off.” Lubitz: “Go whenever you’d like.”

    10:27am
The plane has reached cruising altitude: 38000 feet (11.500 meters)

The captain asks Lubitz to prepare the approach for landing and to verify that the plane can begin the landing process. Lubitz obeys. He repeats to the captain again: “You can go. You can go now.”

    10:28am
Noise can be heard coming from a seat: the captain removes his seatbelt. The door is opened. The captain says to Lubitz: “You are in control now.”

Lubitz answers with a seemingly light tone of voice: “I hope so.”

    10:30am
Lubitz is alone in the cockpit. He locks the armored door with the “Lock” button: it is no longer possible to open the door from the outside. The one can hear the sounds of the automatic pilot being reprogrammed to accelerate the descent, pushing the plane from 38,000 feet (11.000 meters) to 100 feet (30 meters) in a matter of minutes.

    10:33am
The landing begins: the plane drops 3000 feet (900 meters) per minute. Air traffic controllers detect the problem. They try several times to contact the airplane by radio. Lubitz does not respond.

The captain’s voice can be heard as he tries to open the door: “It’s me!” The captain is facing a camera connected to the cockpit: Lubitz sees him on screen but does not react. The captain grabs an oxygen tank or fire extinguisher in order to break down the door.No response from Lubitz. The captain yells: “For the love of God, open this door!”

    10:34am approximately
A first alarm goes off, audible and visual: “SINK RATE, PULL UP.”

    No reaction from Lubitz.

Through the cockpit door, the first sounds of passengers running in the aisles can be heard.

    10:35am
The captain asks for the crowbar hidden in the back of the plane. Louder bangs can be heard hitting the door, followed by metallic sounds. The captain tries to bend the door with the crowbar.

    10:37am for several seconds
A second alarm is set off, audible and visual: “TERRAIN, PULL UP.” Still no reaction from Lubitz.

The captain yells: “Open this f… door!”

    10:38am
Despite the deafening noises, Lubitz’s breathing can cleary be heard through an oxygen mask he put on. He is breathing normally. The plane is at 13000 feet (4000 meters).

    10:40am
A violent sound can be heard outside. At the same time, inside, screaming. The Airbus hits the mountain with its right wing.

No other sound, save for the alarms and the screaming passengers.

    10:41am
The airplane hits the Estrop mountain range at 5000 feet (1500 meters) at 800 km/h.

Once again, our thoughts go out to all the families who have lost loved ones in this horrific and deepsly saddening incident.

Video was not released to the public. But many have confirmed that there is a one plus they have collected many cellphones from the crash site and yet to explore those. CCTV recordings may have been preserved to some extent hopefully! I wonder whether they will ever release those to public due to the graphical nature of those:confused:
