Hybrid Theory: Should you buy one ?

කට්ටිය hybrid වාහන ගන්න හොයන නිසා මේක දාන්නේ. මේක මම වෙන ත්‍රෙඩ් එකක රිප්ලයි එකට දාපු එකක්. හැමෝටම බලන්න පුළුවන් වෙන්න අලුත් ත්‍රෙඩ් එකක දානවා



මම ලදී ගත්ත DEMIO එකක්. 25 කට, 41000 දුවල තිබ්බ.
මුලින්ම හිතන් හිටියේ GP5 එකක් ගෙන්න 36 කට, පස්සේ එක GP1 වලට අඩු උනා. ඊටත් පස්සේ Wagon R hybrid එකක් බැලුව 27 කට. අන්තිමට Demio එකක් ගත්ත.

හරි වැඩේ මෙහෙමයි දැන්

my car price 25 laks
same milage aqua used car is 28 laks

so aqua is 3 laks more than mine

හිතන්න මගේ වාහනේට සතියකට රු.3000 ක තෙල් ඕන කියල.
then if the aqua is twice efficient than my demio, it will only require fuel worth of 1500 per week හරි නේ?

so aqua එකක් පද්දොත් මට සතියක ලාබය 1500

ඔය විදියට අවුරුදු 3ක් පද්දොත් ලාබය = 1500*52*3 = 234000/=

but extra money I paid for buying used aqua = 3 laks

300000 > 234000

so conclusion

though a hybrid seems saves your pocket, actually it's not.

assumptions used
demio does average X kmpl and aqua does 2X kmpl
can buy used aqua with 41000 milage for 28 laks
you will use vehicle for atleast 3 years

I have said this over and over again and some prius fanboys were very upset with me
I bought my Peugeot 406 for 1.6 million and Prius is around 3.5 - 4 millions. Spending 4 million and talking about saving money is bullshit, If i want to spend 4 million on a car i dont think about god damn fuel economy

Hybrids are good for people who drives 3000km per month, not people like us.

I think you forgot to mention the used value / depreciation of a Hybrid and compare with a normal Japan vehicle.

Even Premios/allions which were bought over 5 million now has depreciated to 3.8 million. When you spend over 3.0 million on a car there would 10 million depreciation Saving Rs1000 on fuel does not help

That does make sense. However it seems that the 2nd hand market was pretty bombarded with the birth of hybrids. I remember 10 years back a good Japan car could be sold at a higher value than you purchased. Now those were the days

Yes those days buying a car is an investment I know a person who bought Hiace van for 17.5 and sold to 3.0 million after using for 7 years Now story is different car prices are low since anybody can import a vehicle whereas those days only several car importers did that with profit margins.

you do make some sense!!! however it all depends on personal taste. also the comfort levels. and aqua is brand new right. demio is old. so some people like to buyy brand new vehicles.
