    Good initiative! Why don't we folks share some thoughts on how to overcome this situation. I guess literacy plays plays major role on this which shall be followed by discipline.

    WTF is this, this ain't discuss nothin'. Probably a prep speech done in an English class. :lol::lol:
    Look, our passport sucks because we are labelled as economic refugees all over the world, because of the war, because of people overstaying visas, because of our low income economic status and most importantly because of bad foreign policy combined with dumb politics and politicians.:(
    There is very little the general public can do about this apart from being disciplined, abide to foreign laws and generally keep away from doing anything illegal. Politics has the major role to do here, firstly by solving problems in this country and make this more livable, so people don't have to get out at their earliest possible chance. Once Sri Lanka becomes a high income nation, these passport issues will go way automatically. And that will also solve many problems in this country that have higher priority than a fucked up high status passport.
    :baffled:
    And since most of us know (although we do not like to publicly accept the fact) that Sri Lanka is doomed and will never develop, politics can play a role by at first negotiating retrospective visa agreements (like we have with India, Nepal and Iran) and gradually expanding the number of countries.
    We may never get to the level of a EU or US passport, but at least we may get visa-free, on-arrival agreements with at least 90-100 countries if we try and at least get to the level of a Malaysian or Thai passport.
    But then again, expecting politicians to do things in Sri Lanka? Good things? Things that require expertise in foreign relations?
    Bad luck guys.
    As I always say, if you want a better passport among many other 'better' things, leave the country at the earliest, become a citizen of another country (It's your only choice if you want to travel). Even if we get the greatest passport, nobody will ever earn to travel around the world doing jobs in SL. So it wouldn't matter anyway. :lol::lol:
    It's sad, but that's the truth. Passport status will change as the country changes. People need to change, the system needs to change, and passports shall follow. For the moment, you are asking for too much.

    SORRY!

    what is the reason our passport listed last 6 place on the world ranks ? :eek::baffled:

    can any one answer ?

    because our economy sucks and our our diplomats are unable to do their job properly.

    let me point out some possible reasons here.

    * poor diplomacy
    * poor economy
    * the refugee problem ( asylum seekers )
    * the war history
    * sri lankan students with student visa trying to do full time jobs abroad
    * economic migrants
    * sri lankans being illegal immigrants in many countries
    * sri lankan human smugglers
    * the job scam ( man power agents taking sri lankans abroad to work illegally on tourist visa )
