Lewandowski laughs off Real Madrid rumours

    robert-lewandowski-cropped_16ayfeo4hepkt1aeiqth2kkq4h.jpg

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has dismissed suggestions he could leave the Bundesliga champions for Real Madrid.

The Poland international's representative, Cezary Kucharski, was spotted at the Santiago Bernabeu during Madrid's win over Getafe at the weekend, fuelling speculation Lewandowski could be on his way to the Spanish capital.Nevertheless, the 27-year-old has made it clear there has not been any contact with Madrid.

"It's the same story every year," Lewandowski told Sport Bild."I am not in the mood for speculation. There has not been any contact with Real Madrid."

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, meanwhile, remains unperturbed by the speculation linking Lewandowski with a move to Madrid, with the striker contracted in Bavaria until 2019.

"A quick look at the expiry date of his contract means there is no reason whatsoever to get nervous over this," Rummenigge told reporters."I don't mind that his agent watched a Madrid game. The Bernabeu is a beautiful stadium, the people at Madrid are very nice. There is not a problem.

"I cannot see any players we do not want to leave move on this winter and that includes Lewandowski."The striker has been in sublime form for Bayern this season, scoring 20 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

Mahrez & Vardy may seek Manchester United or Real Madrid moves, Ferguson warns

    jamievardy-cropped_nhpowia9zupq1ija093r2dps2.jpg

Sir Alex Ferguson believes the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez may seek to leave high-flying Leicester City for European giants such as Manchester United and Real Madrid.Leicester have confounded all expectations this season and, following Saturday's 3-0 victory at Swansea City, sit top of the Premier League after 15 games.

That win at the Liberty Stadium came courtesy of a Mahrez hat-trick, with the Algerian and Vardy - who leads the Premier League scoring charts - the stars of the show so far this season at the King Power Stadium.

"When Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners' Cup [under Ferguson], it was the greatest moment for Aberdeen in their history and it was the worst moment too," Ferguson explained at the TechCrunch Disrupt London event."Five players left within a year; Gordon Strachan went to Manchester United, Mark McGhee went to Hamburg.

"Leicester may have a situation where some players love being there and don't want to move and they will have some who do want to move to Manchester United, or Liverpool or Real Madrid. It is natural, it is progress."

Ferguson went on to lavish praise on Vardy, who was playing non-league football just three-and-a-half years ago."My son Darren, when he was at Peterborough, almost signed Vardy, but Leicester City came in at the time," he added.

"There was a great article in the Daily Telegraph by Tim Sherwood about non-League football, about how people are under-estimating it. That is another example. Stuart Pearce and Cyrille Regis came from non-league football. This is something that maybe is being overlooked.

"Vardy is a great example of never giving in and keeping a great belief in himself. He has got certain assets that suit modern-day football - he is aggressive, he is quick, he has got energy and he has got a goal in him."

Guardiola reveals Ribery could start at Dinamo Zagreb

    pepguardiola-cropped_190x7jj4ahjpi1at8mgpb2715q.jpg

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has revealed Franck Ribery could start in Wednesday's Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Frenchman made his comeback in the 3-1 Bundesliga defeat at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend after nine months on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

Ribery came off the bench for the final 10 minutes of the game, celebrating his return with a consolation goal, and is set to get playing time again at Dinamo and could even feature from the start in the Croatian capital.

"I don't know yet whether Ribery will be part of the starting XI or come on in the second half, but he will definitely play," Guardiola said at a news conference.

Bayern have already booked their place in the knockout stages with one game to spare and have therefore opted to leave first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at home."Manuel has played all games so far, both for Bayern and for Germany. That's why I have decided to rest him," Guardiola added.

"Sven Ulreich is a good goalkeeper as well and deserves a chance. I am aware of his abilities. I am happy for him that he will get playing time on Wednesday."Bayern recorded a 5-0 win over Dinamo at the Allianz Arena earlier the campaign, but Guardiola is not taking Wednesday's encounter lightly, singling out Marko Pjaca as the Croatian champions' main dangerman.

"I already knew Dinamo's players before the first game in Munich, but we know them even better now. I particularly like Pjaca's style," Guardiola said.
