"Mahan Air Airbus A310 Damaged During Taxi at Istanbul."
The Airbus A310 was substantially damaged when it collided with a concrete barrier at Istanbul Airport, Turkey.
The aircraft was taxiing to its parking stand at Istanbul Atatuerk Intl Airport (Apron F2) when it sufferes an apparent brake failure causing the aircraft to roll beyong the designated parking stand.
The A310 continued to roll foreward until its nosegear impacted a concrete wall and a metal fence where the nosegear collapsed rearwards. The nose dropped and struck the roof of a passing passenger bus which proceeded on a lower elevated service road just next to the concrete barrier. The bus was badly damaged as well.
Fortunately no serious injuries have been reported in the event.
