I used negative reinforcement on you. If I did that you would post another paragraph of BS. So best way to get the truth out is what I did

However you try to describe it you're still a liar. Negative reinforcement? Ha! :P

Yes, this is the kwid 2016 the budget car which is indian 3.67 Lahks made for india. that is perfectly clear

Among the list these cars were also there 2016 versions. in ikman its 2015

notice the market price as well, they have their own market.

these cars are running in Sri Lanka without any problem for many years now. specially maruti for over 10 years

so the kwid will not be an exception

I know that's a budget car but you didn't buy it "on a budget", you spent more than 2,210,000 bucks. You bought a budget car for a ridiculous price tag which would suffice to buy an used Jap sedan. I respect your decision and you might had your reasons but I wouldn't advice any potential carbuyer to do what you did.

we'll see about that, where does it say?? can you give a source

the NCAP test was done very recently. I'm pretty sure the version with 1000cc engine, ABS ari bags version will not have this

    http://www.ibtimes.co.in/renault-kwid-1000cc-amt-be-launched-coming-weeks-report-677965

Check the link I've posted on my previous reply. Yes maybe the 1.0L version might be fixed but what about people who already bought the 800CC version? Don't they deserve the same level of protection?

that is what we call a manufacture fault obviously they should be recalled.

Hetti countered the safety argument with this. Having an unstable body shell is obviously a fault. The company might have done it as a cost cutting measure and won't issue a recall but it's still a fault that could cause death of someone.

If your intention was pure, there are 1000 ways to share pros and cons of a vehicle in public without trash talking about it.

And I had already bought the kwid, what is the point of lecturing me about what I already knew??

I FREAKING DON'T WANT TO LECTURE YOU OR ANY KWID OWNER DAMMIT, EVERY POST I POST HERE IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE POTENTIAL CARBUYER WHO IS INTERESTED IN BUYING THE KWID, HE/SHE SHOULD KNOW THERE ARE BETTER ALTERNATIVES OUT THERE AND MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION. HOW MANY FREAKING TIMES I HAVE TO REPEAT THIS?

may be or may be not. safety should be there in a vehicle, there is no argument there. facing an accident in a vehicle with max safety rating vs 0 rating car sure has a difference.

I like to take my chances

    Good.

Just to make you all little bit mad, I would like to suggest an Electric Vehicle.

If you’re in the market for a new car, could an all-electric model possibly fit your budget?

Electric cars produce zero emissions themselves, but even if you don’t have solar panels and you get your electricity from the grid, driving an electric car results in fewer emissions than driving a gasoline powered or conventional hybrid in almost every case.

EVs offer instant torque, smooth acceleration and regenerative braking, and in the words of one EV owner, “EV driving is more fun than a clunky ICE engine, transmission, gear shifting and friction brakes.”

More than 50% of the total grid capacity is generated using Coal and diesel power plants in Sri Lanka. So how do you say that EVs produce Zero Emissions here in Sri Lanka?

Are you too proud to admit that I tricked you??? :P

Well again it depend on my choice. I didn't want to buy a Japanese car I wanted the kwid. So when buying kwid I cant look at it in the Japanese view point.

It is a budget price for a brand new car, there are not brand new cars for that price that , except the few that's already in the segment eg: alto, maruti

Banks dont provide the leasing facility for very old cars, that was going to be a problem.the amount that I have to put in my hand are high

believe or not I got a very good leasing deal

Check the link I've posted on my previous reply. Yes maybe the 1.0L version might be fixed but what about people who already bought the 800CC version? Don't they deserve the same level of protection?

it was not a fault, it was not an option in the 2016 version. eg: ABS, 4 air bags

the price might be bit higher also

Hetti countered the safety argument with this. Having an unstable body shell is obviously a fault. The company might have done it as a cost cutting measure and won't issue a recall but it's still a fault that could cause death of someone.

Since the begining of this thread I replied everyone alone. I didn't pay much attention to supporting arguments until yesterday. I will try to find it and read

However if there is a huge manufactor fault. it will be recalled

But why do you want to do that??? everything you said about KIWD is all over the internet. genuin buyers will know everything before buying it

nobody purchase a vehicle with their eyes closed :D

I still dont understand why do you want to highlight kwid alternative in this thread. perhaps somewhere more relevance to Japanese cars??

I saw a thread about a wagon r in the eve, where some people were doing that

I didn't come there and brag about kwid saying hey sting ray got 650cc engine and its 34 lakhs , kwid has 800cc engine but its 22 lahks

because it was totally irrelevent for me. conflict of interest and nobody asked me so!

I think Ramishka gave you an good answer for this also

I repeated everthing more than 200 times in this thread over and over. get used to it. because people just want to show that they are right

they dont look/respect others view points

    they think they know everything.

I do love the clunky ICE engine and the sound it makes when I rev it high  I like to feel the car in the way I feel my hands and legs. I like to imagine the car is an extension of myself. I want to feel the feedback from the road. I need to feel the car straining and relaxing as I accelerate and cruise.

Typing these words make me want to go out right now and meet her, start her engine and see the temperature meter rise and feel her relaxing idly after reaching optimum temperature, it's like looking at your girlfriend sleeping next to you peacefully...

I know I sound like a dumb idiot but this is how I feel...

I'd never buy an EV even if the government make it mandatory. I'd rather walk wherever I want to go

I prefer less electronics, more mechanicals
moderns cars are almost computers on wheels. I really hate to keep a computer parked at my garage :dull:
I won't buy a modern vehicle (above 2010 or so) even if I had 10 million rupees

We all know adopting 'green' technology isn't even a consideration for most car buyers. Recent sales numbers also clearly demonstrate fuel efficiency is not a relevant factor in the new car purchase decision process either. The auto makers' continued insistence on selling EVs as 'green' only hurts sales and is a pointless waste of resources.

What electric cars offer drivers that no ICE vehicle can touch is a better driving experience at lower cost. People who are anti-EV have never driven one. I've never seen anyone get out of my Leaf after their first time without a smile on their face.
(also I would like to mention this EV is not the only vehicle I own, comparing to the fleet of other vehicles this is very economical)

When I drive an ICE it is like a reminder how antiquated the technology is and I miss the instant power and the smooth acceleration without a transmission most of all. 'Cheap Gas' is relative term. Gasoline will never be as cheap as electricity.

I think it'll be hard to get someone into an electric vehicle who has no experience with EVs.
So, how do we get more people interested in at least giving EV life a try?

Hopefully with competition from all the major auto companies now building electric cars, prices will come down & demand for charging stations will drive faster network expansion. Also I believe that once the range anxiety is solved, the adoption will be pretty fast.

I'm not anti-EV and I have driven a Nissan leaf, only once though.
I guess it would be a hit if charging stations network expand through the island.

It's just that, from my one-time experience driving an EV I can't imagine myself using one as my daily commute car. Like I said before there was no "connection". The experience was very odd to say the least.

Anyhoo,my car can refuel in 5 minutes and travel for 600+ Km without me having to go to the fuel station again. Until they invent such an EV I won't even give a second thought about buying one.

It's called a Tesla. You might argue the charging time is more, but I think it's balanced out with the fact that you can recharge right at home vs refuel in 5 mins at a filling station.
Also bro, you can't generalize the feel of hybrids and electric vehicles just by driving a Nissan Leaf. Have you driven any of the hybrids that use the electric motor to amplify the power, instead of saving fuel?
Anyway I think we are going off topic with the thread.

Other than this, using an Electric vehicle powered by Sri Lanka's main electricity supply is utterly pointless. Most of our electricity is coming from Diesel anyway, so it is only a matter of CEB burning fuel vs you. Your vehicle can do it more efficiently, so EV vehicles are actually hurting the country economy.

Yeah I'm trying hard to keep them on the topic. I mean these information are irreverent to this thread. However they help to keep the discussion going.

    How much is a Tesla?
Does Tesla offer official support to Sri Lanka?

And by "hybrids that use the electric motor to amplify the power" do you mean mild hybrids, like the insight?

And those batteries have a 10 year life expectancy right? Do we have the facilities in Sri Lanka to recycle those "expired" battery packs?

10 years is reasonably good for a battery, but it is going to be expensive to replace. Savings must top the battery replacement costs too.

I have a friend who uses a Leaf, and he charges his car every week or so in our office. We don't get any fuel allowances, so that is probably one way to snatch some extra from your employer.
