    Without an Underwear

This happened in a weekend in early or mid eighties. I must be in my early twenties. My next door neighbour ran in and said her mother collapsed and unconscious. At that time, only very few people owned cars, and there was only 2/3 cars in my village including me, which is about 10 miles south of Colombo. I told her (she is older than me but very beautiful girl. Not only that, she was in a teledrama or two at that time.) "I'll be there in a minute", so I got the keys, drove to her door. Someone loaded that old lady in to back seat, and that girl got in too. At that age I was looking for an excuse to drive fast, so I was in accident ward in 10-15 minutes. The old lady being carted in, accompanied with the daughter , I just drove towards Norris canal and park my car, and thinking of going in to hospital to look for my 'punchi amma', who is working in the hospital, to get some help for this woman.
(I would like to tell some background story now. At that time (not only then, even now ) I am not wearing sarongs at all, because that bloody thing is not staying put on my waist. But on this day I must have washed all my shorts and jocks, and wearing an old sarong belongs to my father. I found that in the bottom shelve in my mother's wardrobe which is reserved for "PAANKADA".) Only that moment I realize what I was wearing this sarong, no jocks and an old worn out tee shirt. Believe me, this sarong got more holes than Swiss cheese, and a closer inspection proves that there was no hope that , I can get out of the car without showing my skin through the doors and windows of this sarong. I got back in, and thinking what to do.
(But there was something I forgot to tell you early. On my way to hospital, a boy related to this family, walking along the high level road somewhere near nugegoda, and that girl yell at me to stop, and told that boy to inform her brother, who lives in kirulapona, about this situation. )
I am in deep trouble, cant go home, cant get out of my car, and thinking what to do ??. Fortunately, about an hour later my neighbouring girls brother came in, looking for me along the Norris canal road which is the usual car park for patients at that time. When he saw me, he could not stop his laughter despite his mother being in hospital. We both know who we are, and the emergency we faced, so he suggest he can give his trousers to me, and go in to hospital and find my punchi amma and get some help. So he got in to back seat ( mind you this is Norris Canal road sometime around 10-11 AM )and he has to take his trousers off first, because I got nothing underneath my hollowed sarong. He passed me the trousers which is the size of a sumo wrestler, and poor me is only size 12. But I put that on, tighten up the belt, but there are no holes to put the pin in, but I cover it with my tee shirt and went in and met my 'punchi' and got the help. Fortunately, that lady recovered completely, and lived another 15-20 years, and doctors said, that quick medical help was the key to her recovery. Since then, that girl and her brother both teasing me saying " mallige hil sarama dakkaanam polisiyen allan yanawaa". But to this date they treat me like a god, and whenever I am in S/L they come in to see me and relive the event with 'no jocks with a hollowed sarong'.
