As I far as I can remember; upto 5 lak there is no tax, if it is between 5 lak to 1.5 million then 2.5% tax on interest. if it is more than 1.5 mil then 8% tax on interest.

you can save any amount.
only thing is if it is black money the inland revenue can track you easily. if it is legit don't worry.
