So generic and highly competing market :rolleyes:. Think about narrowing the segments to one max two:yes: .Unless your expenses will be high and ROI will be far away from the estimate period :sorry:

Ideal thing at the initial stage .(Leave it).

Colombo as a whole you get A-Z customers .be more specific .Try to locate in a area where people do shop for cloths . But i doubt the concept of getting space at a establish shops. No one will let you inn unless you don't compete with them .But whats the point of you selling cloths at Keels supper ,coz customer buying behavior and mind set is towards grocery shopping. Not cloths .But promoting the brand in a else way- YES!

May be you should try the online platform first. Less cost involvement and the reach is high. Can target the specific crowd

    Good Luck on this

Let me improve a little on this

So generic and highly competing market . Think about narrowing the segments to one max two .Unless your expenses will be high and ROI will be far away from the estimate period

Bro.... on a start-up, I believe the correct view point would be to look at the ROCE on the long run till you establish it. Launching a fashion brand to the mass market should be done with a comfortable enough reserves to back it up. Hence, calculating ROI would generate a negative value in the short term forecasting.

However, I agree on narrowing down your target segment for one or two. May I be bold enough to suggest that you should launch a Kids (age 7-14) range quickly targeting the upcoming New year shopping drive?

Going further... I would also advice (regardless you take it or not) to launch one specific line of products such as T-shirts "Only" for the launch. Run with that for a couple of months. The apparel industry and the market is highly volatile... so starting with one product line and slowly increasing es-ques would give you the chance to learn the trade, the business and start a good rapport with the business owners...rather than launching a massive variety and learning things the hard way.

Ideal thing at the initial stage ..

My advice is NOT to get into the shoe market. I am sure you already aware that theres is heavy tax portion slapped against importing shoes to the local market. It s a double edged sword with the hilt is a gun... which basically means that such a tax would increase the sales of the local manufactures... but then again deprive of people with good quality and new fashionable shoes for a reasonable price and the hilt is a gun because that encourages a lot of baggage carries and black market exports.

I would seriously advice you against getting into the shoes market unless you know what the fuck you are getting into and have a substantial monetary backing to support it.

Adding and a agreeing with what he said... there's no fucking way you going to get good enough retailers to host your brand just because you walk in with your dick swinging left and right. Established re-sellers will run you dry and bleed you empty before they even allow you to put a x-banner at their premises.

Then again... how about I suggest you approach re-sellers who are KNOWN and renowned to be all around good guys and play fair regardless you are new or old... May I suggest that you approach people the likes of "kandy", "Thilakawardana" who are actually known to be really good people for a startup business.

Both of these people are known to buy in advance and pay in cash.. but rest of the people or many of the re-sellers will only pay if the items are sold. Hence, the advice of starting with only one line of products till you establish a working relationship with them.

may be its just my point of view... but I really dont agree on Online sales.
I know its the platform quickly and vastly gaining ground in the market...
but to limit your self to that specific segment means you are cornering your self to a limited access group of people. You do realize that unless your serve a customer base age ranging from 20-30, there are significant lesser chances of you making proper online sales for a fashion brand.

Then again.. its upto you... decide and do.

lol bro... ... you need to slap your self a little mate. Do you have any idea of the running cost of a normal shop these days. Depending on the location of your shop the mean figure for a rent would be around 100,000 a month for atleast a 1500 sqft showroom. Then comes A/C, Light, water, sundry, salaries, etc etc... unless you MAN the shop by your self and open it on your garage., you are looking at a minimum overhead of 250k a month for a decent size shop.

which means your monthly turnover should be well over 400,000/- which roughly translate to a 14,000/- sale per day.

baby steps bro.... BABY FUCKING STEPS !! ... its good to have a target and a dream.. but dont run when you dont know even how to walk.

I suggest you start your business slow... do it for a year...and by the end of 1 year, you will be 10 years wiser and 4 years older ;) ;) ... then you can decide what do next.

Unless you go head to head with a major brand with one to one identical product line ... there's hardly any direct competitors in the apparel business. So no worries on that part.... but what WILL EFFECT you is the creativity, the fabric, the cut and the presentation of your brand and product line to stand above the rest of the countless others who are in your category.
