I dont know if you are aware of this.. but today morning HNB bank entire Teller & their system network went offline for almost two hours.

I couldn't withdraw cash from the machine as the machine gave an error and said the network is down... but immediately starts working again..... but goes offline the moment you requested cash

and about one hour back when I checked my account, about 40k from my account was deducted !

I called them and they said there was an error and they will replace the cash ASAP ....

But I have this wiered feeling that their network came under some sort of a hack and they are scrambling to get their shit sorted out.

If you have an account with HNB ... make sure you check your balance asap and make a complaint if you find something is wrong

a bank cannot close an account for three months non activity... mandatory is for the account to have less than 1000/- in balance for 6 calendar months or if not for 3 calendar years.

if your account is closed, get a letter from the bank and forward it to the central bank and they will refund you the money which it was closed on.

Without his authorization from his HNB card a transaction made to some online site and as soon as he got sms alert he deactivated the card and opened up a complaint. as per my friend he use genuine software and very good in IT (not like me) but some how he need to wait nearly 30 days for a refund or to resolve this.

Was it a debit card? Did the bank agree to refund?

this actually happened to my wife once... not in SL but in Istanbul.

She paid for one of our meals and after about 4 months, she received a payment approval call for some Electronic Item purchases emanating from a Turkish retailer.

we did cancel it immediately and changed the card....

but it never did happen in SL though !
