Can someone please elaborate where is law separate to each and everyone in Sri Lanka?
Let me elaborate further.
Sri Lankan law is common for all, except a very few statutes which are named as personal laws.
There are 3 types of them
1. Kandyan Law.
2. Thesawalamai Law.
3. Muslim Law.
The Muslim Law consists of only 3 areas.
1. Muslim Marriage and divorce
2. Muslim intestate succession
3. Muslim charitable trust.
All other laws are same to all Sri lankans and these 3 laws that are personal to muslims would not even make 0.05% of the entire legal system.
What should be understood is that there is a huge hoard going on saying that no special court and special laws. There is no special criminal court or civil court or Muslim Shariah law here.
Some statements made by prominent lawyers is blunt and extremely dimwitted!!
There are statements flying around saying Muslim Law was used to make Kathankudy and some other parts look like little Arabia. there's no such Muslim law to justify making kathankudy look like small Arabia. There is no Muslim law that's used to make it look like so either. Theres no 'some parts'..theres only kathankudy which was made to look so. And that was made by a politician we all know under the patronage of our Appachchi and podi Appachchi. There was no Muslim law involved.
So please dont misdirect!!!
