There's a large Apple outlet in Changi airport itself. You get immediate 7% back.
Also there are several authorised Apple re-sellers in major shopping areas. I haven't checked the outside prices.
I always purchase AppleCare. You don't really need to. But things could go wrong and you got to take the risk.

If buying from outside you need to buy from a vendor who participates in the TRS (Tourist Refund Scheme)
Many now do electronically (eTRS), you need to show your passport. Then you go to an eTRS self-help kiosk at the airport, scan your passport and complete the refund procedure.

I don't know who remembers that Apple announced free service for fixing endemic problems for iPhoneX and MacBook Pro.
I had so many SSD failures..one after the other..just one phone call they courier the replacement. Never asked a question. (because they knew)
Some referred to these failures as iDebacle.

This is the reason, we had many 2017 macbook pro's dying and keyboards going shit.

For personal use good warranty might be sufficient but at enterprise level dying equipment is a major disruption and frankly lenovo pro models are far better built these days.​

I have quite a few...different models. Mainly for testing. I use a Razer Blade i7 -8565 , 54GB MX 150, 16GB, 512GB, UHD 4K Touch display, Dolby Atmos for quite a while.
My son has a Razer Phone 2 and it's display & sound is stunning.
