ප්ලාස්ටික් සහ මළ නොබැදෙන වානේ මතුපිට කොරෝනා වෛරසයට දින තුනක කාලයක් පැවතිය හැකි බව නවතම අධ්‍යනයකින් සොයා ගැනීමට හැකිවූ බව New England Journal of Medicine සඟරාවේ වාර්තාවක් පළ කරමින් විද්‍යාඥයින් සඳහන් කර සිටිනවා.

මතුපිට ස්ථායිතාවය සම්බන්ධයෙන් විද්‍යාඥයින් සිදුකළ පරීක්ෂණයේදී 2002 වර්ෂයේදී පැතිර ගිය SARS-CoV-1 හෙවත් සාර්ස් වෛරසය සමඟ කොරෝනා වෛරසය සංසන්දය කිරීමට කටයුතු කර ඇත.

මෙහිදී විද්‍යාඥයින් අනාවරණය කර ගෙන ඇත්තේ කොරෝනා වෛරසයට තඹ මත පැය 04ක කාලයක්, කාඩ්බෝඩ් මත පැය 24ක කාලයක්, ප්ලාස්ටික් සහ මළ නොබැදෙන වානේ මතුපිටවල් මත පැය 72 ක කාලයක් පැවතීමේ හැකියාව ඇති බවයි.

ඊට අමතරව කොරෝනා වෛරසයට කුඩා ජල අංශු මෙන් වාතයේ පැය තුනක කාලයක් රැඳී සිටීමේ හැකියාවක් ඇති බවයි.

කොරෝනා වයිරස් යනු සතුන් අතර බහුලව දක්නට ලැබෙන වෛරස් සමූහයකි. විද්‍යාඥයින් විසින් මෙය සත්වෝද්‍යාව (zoonotic) ලෙස හඳුන්වන අතර එයින් අදහස් කරන්නේ ඒවා සතුන්ගෙන් මිනිසුන්ට සම්ප්‍රේෂණය කළ හැකි බවයි. පර්යේෂකයන් ගණන් බලා ඇති පරිදි කොරෝනා වෛරසයට පැය කිහිපයක් සිට සතියකට වඩා වැඩි කාලයක් අවට පරිසරයේ රැඳී සිටීමේ හැකියාව ඇති බව සොයා ගෙන ඇත.

පසුගිය සඳුදා මාධ්‍ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ වසංගත රෝග පිලිබදව වෛද්‍ය Maria Van Kerkhove සඳහන් කලේ සාර්ස් සහ කොරෝනා වෛරසය වැනි වෛරස් ප්ලාස්ටික්, මළ නොබැදෙන වානේ මත සහ පරිසරයේ රැඳී සිටීමේ හැකියාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් පර්යේෂකයින් පරීක්ෂණ කටයුතු සිදුකරමින් සිටින බවයි.

Had you read my posts in the main Corona Virus thread, I said this probably about two months ago. After the tests were done in the USA, I posted it again last week....

Finally..... someone did test the lifespan of the Covid virus on surfaces

I have always maintained that the Corona viruses stay active for a long time on surfaces. Several times I mentioned that on currency notes it stays for 2 days (long before China started currency notes re-issue), some surfaces 3 days and at 4 deg C will survive for 28 days. Many probably didn't believe me, but what I mentioned was based on the research done on SARS virus. No one did tests on the Covid at that time.

Now, tests funded by the US, and carried out at the NIH labs (Rocky Mountains) and also at Princeton & UCLA has released the results.

It was found that viable virus could be detected in aerosols up to 3 hours post aerosolization, up to 4 hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel.

Note: These were done at 65% RH and at 21-23 deg C temperatures.
