Brighton and Hove Albion 2-3 Manchester United: Fernandes penalty settles astonishing contest
Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty with the last kick of an astonishing game as Manchester United stole a 3-2 win over a Brighton and Hove Albion side who struck the woodwork five times. The Portuguese kept his cool in the 100th minute to settle matters at the end of a dramatic encounter at the Amex Stadium in which United rode their luck to the extreme.
Brighton, showing no signs of fatigue despite facing a fifth game in 13 days, hit both posts and the crossbar in the first half before breaking the deadlock via Neal Maupay's nerveless Panenka penalty after Fernandes fouled Tariq Lamptey.United – needing a response to their limp opening-game loss to Crystal Palace – levelled within 187 seconds, though, Lewis Dunk unfortunate to divert past Mat Ryan from close range after Fernandes' set-piece caused problems.
Referee Chris Kavanagh chalked off a penalty he had awarded early in the second half after reviewing the incident himself, allowing Paul Pogba to breathe a sigh of relief after Aaron Connolly took a tumble.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men made full use of the reprieve as Marcus Rashford, having just seen a goal disallowed, brilliantly danced his way into the box and fired home via a deflection off Dunk.Graham Potter was cursing his luck when Solly March and Leandro Trossard hit the post and bar respectively, before jumping for joy when the former headed in a stoppage-time equaliser.
But the drama was not over and Maupay handled Harry Maguire's header, which was cleared off the line by March. The final whistle had gone but a VAR check resulted in a spot-kick from which Fernandes wrapped up the points in a game that will live long in the memory.

West Brom 3-3 Chelsea: Abraham completes Blues' second-half rescue mission
Tammy Abraham's last-gasp goal completed Chelsea's rescue mission following a shambolic first half in a breathless 3-3 draw at West Brom. The Baggies were gifted three goals inside 27 minutes at The Hawthorns with Callum Robinson scoring twice after shoddy defending from Marcos Alonso and 36-year-old Premier League debutant Thiago Silva.
Kyle Bartley made it 3-0 after more poor work at a corner but Mason Mount's well-struck 55th-minute effort was backed up by substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi putting the finishing touch on a great Chelsea move.West Brom then buckled under the sheer weight of pressure in five additional minutes as Abraham tapped in from close range after Sam Johnstone saved Mount's shot.
Robinson caught Chelsea cold inside four minutes with a fine drilled finish across Willy Caballero after Matheus Pereira had picked off Alonso's poor header.Abraham missed a sitter and Timo Werner wastefully crashed against the crossbar before another error, this time Silva's dallying and slip, allowed Robinson to slide under Caballero to double the lead.Incredibly it was 3-0 when Bartley unerringly slotted in from Darnell Furlong's downward header at Pereira's corner with Chelsea's defending again suspect.
Alonso and Mateo Kovacic were sacrificed for Cesar Azpilicueta and Hudson-Odoi at the break and a high-tempo Chelsea reduced the arrears with a crisp long-ranger from Mount that left Johnstone flat-footed.A fine Chelsea move culminated in Hudson-Odoi linking brilliantly with Kai Havertz before coolly finding the bottom-right corner to really get West Brom nerves jangling with 20 minutes to go.
West Brom were penned further and further back as time wound down and Abraham earned Chelsea the point after reacting quickly when Johnstone could only parry Mount's effort, with a VAR check ruling Havertz had not handled shortly before.

Manchester City 2-5 Leicester City: Vardy hat-trick leaves Guardiola stunned
Jamie Vardy was the scourge of Manchester City again as his hat-trick secured a sensational 5-2 win for Leicester City and raised fresh questions about Pep Guardiola's defence.
The striker won two penalties and converted both, either side of a terrific backheeled finish for his second goal, to net his second hat-trick against City – almost four years after his treble in a 4-2 victory over the same opponents. His former Leicester team-mate Riyad Mahrez gave the hosts the lead at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, but Vardy then took centre stage, with James Maddison adding a brilliant fourth goal late on.
Nathan Ake headed a City consolation, but Leicester then scored a fifth in a dramatic Premier League clash, with Maddison fouled and Youri Tielemans slotting in another penalty. It meant Guardiola, in his 686th game as a manager, suffered the indignity of seeing one of his teams conceding five goals for the first time.

Atletico Madrid 6-1 Granada: Suarez at the double on debut as Rojiblancos run riot
Luis Suarez scored twice and assisted another in a dream debut off the bench in Atletico Madrid's 6-1 demolition of Granada in their opening LaLiga fixture. The Uruguay forward, who joined from Barcelona in a €6million deal on Friday, had already provided an assist for Marcos Llorente and won a penalty that was overturned by the time he powered in a header for his first Atleti goal.
Jorge Molina's consolation brought only brief joy for Granada as Suarez, who only entered the fray in the 70th minute, rounded off a sensational cameo in second-half injury time. The result was already beyond doubt before Suarez's introduction with Diego Costa heading Atleti in front and, after Saul Niguez missed a first-half penalty, Angel Correa and Joao Felix were also on target prior to the late glut of goals.
With Suarez watching on from the stands, Costa wasted little time in proving his worth, meeting Correa's cross with a brilliant header.Matters were made worse for Granada when Domingos Duarte fouled Joao Felix, yet Saul's penalty was well saved by Rui Silva.Any Granada comeback hopes were dealt a hammer blow two minutes into the second half – Correa thumping in from close range after controlling Joao Felix's pass.
Correa returned the favour 18 minutes later, sliding a throughball – which was dummied by Costa – to Joao Felix, who coolly rounded a defender before slotting home. With victory ensured, Simeone handed Suarez his Atleti bow and the Uruguay talisman made an instant impact, setting up Llorente to tuck his effort under the keeper and make it 4-0.Suarez was awarded a penalty moments later, only for referee Xavier Estrada Fernandez to overturn his decision after checking the screen.
Yet the 33-year-old was not to be denied his first goal in red-and-white, which came courtesy of a fantastic thumping header in the 85th minute. With Molina bundling in a consolation at the other end, there was still time for Suarez to strike again, and he had his second in the final minute when he tucked in on the follow-up after hitting the woodwork.

Hoffenheim 4-1 Bayern Munich: Champions' 32-match unbeaten run ends as Kramaric, Dabbur inspire hosts
Bayern Munich's 32-match unbeaten run across all competitions has come to an end in a deserved 4-1 defeat at Hoffenheim, also halting a run of 14 consecutive Bundesliga wins.
Hansi Flick's men were taken to extra-time before winning the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla on Thursday, but in Sinsheim three days later the champions were far from their best as they missed the opportunity to claim a record 11th successive Bundesliga away win.Hoffenheim were far superior to Bayern in the first half, with the visitors arguably lucky to only trail by one goal at the interval as Joshua Kimmich pulled one back after Ermin Bicakcic and Munas Dabbur had put the hosts 2-0 up.
Joshua Zirkzee, starting to allow Robert Lewandowski a rest, hit the crossbar early in the second period, though it only provided a momentary boost as Andrej Kramaric put the result beyond Bayern with two goals in the final 13 minutes to inflict a first defeat on the champions since December, and in emphatic style.
Perhaps still recovering from their exploits on Thursday, Bayern looked particularly sluggish early on and Hoffenheim deservedly took the lead as Bicakcic glanced home Dennis Geiger's corner delivery. That shock was not enough to jolt Bayern into life and eight minutes later they trailed 2-0 – Benjamin Pavard inadvertently put Dabbur through on goal as he tackled Christoph Baumgartner, and the Israel striker lifted a disguised chip over Manuel Neuer.
Bayern survived two more scares before capitalising through Kimmich's gorgeous 20-yard effort that went in off the bar in the 36th minute.Hoffenheim's intensity remained impressive after the restart and they went close twice in quick succession through Dabbur early on.Bayern almost made the most of those let-offs when Zirkzee hit the bar from an acute angle just prior to being replaced by Lewandowski, as Flick attempted to force the issue.
That change failed to bring the desired improvement and Hoffenheim restored their two-goal lead through Kramaric, who held off Jerome Boateng after receiving Ihlas Bebou's pass and swept into the bottom-left corner.A determined run from Bebou then resulted in Neuer tripping him in the area, allowing Kramaric to seal a stunning victory from the spot.
