When I said 50% tax means income tax+ property tax+ school tax+ GST+PST. RRSP is retirement fund. We cant put lot to retirements funds just to reduce tax as we have other needs. Everyone has to pay mortgage, foods and all other expenses etc. Yes there is a marginal tax rate, where tax can be optimized.

I am not familiar with current tax sri lanka.

If you have children 1000 (food + internet + transport) is not sufficient. There are various other expenses. It is around 1500-2000 or more than that.

In vancouver and toronto , it is super expensive to buy a home. A reasonable home will cost millions. Or else, possibly you may have to buy a home far away from city center. But life is tough as if we need to travel to city center. Toronto traffic can be really bad

I like Calgary.

I also like Calgary, my first job relocation was Calgary. Staying Calgary, most of the time work in Vancouver island (Victoria hospital extension). Then move to Montreal to construct A30 Road. Calgary good only federal tax only no provincial tax like other provinces.

I know ON tax higher than Alberta, Calgary goods expensive than other provinces. And gas bit cheaper than others. Alberta only federal tax only. Tax mainly depends on your income. In QC if you get 180k have to pay nearly 48-50% tax.

The secret is that in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg, there are infinite prairie lands to build homes.

prairie land are flat, stretch thousands of kms and they are used for mainly farming. Vancouver, there is no space to expand.

City center homes can be cheap as city center is not a good place to live (busy, crimes, congestion)

here is typical good nice place to live (well developed modern neighbourhood with parks, schools, gym etc) away from city center.
